TAN: A BIG IF, BUT

Tue Dec 16, 2025 6:08 am

IF we get promoted this season what’s everyone’s personal opinion on us actually being sold or do you think tan will stay
Personally I really hope he’s got no appetite for further investment and sells up :bluescarf:

Who really knows? :? I’m not sure he knows himself, as last Summer proved!

My inclination is that he won’t sell, as he potentially has the ‘golden goose’ in BBM, who could increase the value of the asset (that is what it is to him) considerably

However, if certain things previously spoken of are as correct as we believe them to be, and an improved offer is made, it’s always ‘possible’ he will sell

Regarding promotion, enjoy the ride and have some optimism, Allan! :ayatollah:

That will be the question on everyones mind if we get promoted.

My head say no as I honestly think no one is going to offer him what he wants.

I think he will want to give it another go to the Premier with little if any investment at all. If this is the case then the best we can hope for is survival in the Championship. If we do that then the penny might finally drop for him and he could sell up then.

He's certainly mentioned less now that we're top of a league.

I reckon def sell up as that’s what I’ve been told and Tan knows he will have to invest £millions

Yeah that's how i see it Annis, after stripping the club down to bare bones in the summer the vile dictator got lucky with BBM. If we go up then the price of the club increases, if he stayed on (gob forbid) then he'd have to spend big and i can't see him doing that, also at least one of the potenial new owners from last summer are still keeping a very close eye on things as you know.

Re: TAN: A BIG IF, BUT

I hope he sells but can’t see it. He wants way too much money for the club. I can see us selling off a few of our youngsters, losing BBM to a bigger club and we are stuck with Tan in another relegation battle trying to survive on the cheap. How’s that for optimism

That's exactly what will happen if he stays.

My god, that’s a grim prospect but of course it could happen.

I personally think he’ll stay regardless.

I agree. He will be able to get more for us as a Championship club if we go up, although not what he wants. Sala case will be resolved one way or the other too.

It’s 50/50 for me. He might think BBM can do it again and decide to give it one last go, especially as we’re unlikely to go down next season.

Alternatively, with promotion on the cards, our young players performing, and the academy’s reputation growing, the bids might finally start getting closer to the club's true value. He might fancy selling now that it’s not just to opportunists trying to steal the club on the cheap. For once, he's actually moved from a position of weakness to a position of strength by making a great choice of manager.

Okay I want him gone as much as the next man but what exactly did he do to "strip the club down to the bare bones"?

The biggest problem is the price he wants, nobody in their right mind will pay it.

I really hope he sells up and if the Sala case is over he may sell.

My only worry is, he may think that BBM can perform miracles and do a double promotion and he can get a much higher price in the prem.

You would think so Monty but something tells me he will want us back in the Premier so he can say he left us in a good state.

Its all guesswork to be frank but just have that feeling .
We will know soon enough with what happens in january, backed to the full or dig into the academy

Just to throw a bit of external stuff into this. Wrexham recently formally valued at £350m for their £35m investment.

Genuine question.
Other than their championship status. What makes them worth 10-12 times more than it was felt our club was worth in the summer?

If we do achieve promotion. Is their squad, academy, stadium, training facilities etc worth that much more than ours?
As I understood it. The majority of the “Hollywood” income went to the 2 owners.

He got rid of 14-15 players and told BBM there was no money what so ever for new players and he'd have to use the youngsters, he has not put a penny towards this seasons effort and has got very lucky with BBM.

I agree with this.

If it's just loans in January then he has no intention of backing the manager in the summer even if we go up. 2-3 quality signings in January would almost guarantee promotion.

As much as I like this squad and manager, he will need to buy players in the summer if we go up.

And let's be honest, it wasn't a genius move by Tan to appoint this manager - he got lucky.

Re: TAN: A BIG IF, BUT

A tricky one for vinnie, he probably realises we are worth almost nothing in league 1, maybe 60 million in the championship ?
And you can double that at least if we went up again….i think he will sell up as he hasn’t got what it takes to keep us up in the PL unless he’s got really lucky with our current manager and we continue to build and fly….

So just what every relegated team does, they were going to leave whoever owned us. I do agree he hasn't done anything this season towards helping us & has certainly got lucky with BBM but I don't agree he has stripped the club to the bare bones.

will the sala case have a baring. if he gets 50 to 60 mill he may lower the asking price.

Re: TAN: A BIG IF, BUT

For all his bad points, he did always say he wanted players to come through our academy and has invested in that more than he gets credit for. Obviously he could have done more, but the squad we currently have is partially his investment coming to fruition.

I hope he sells, or has some kind of total change of character and takes another crack at the premiership.

I wonder if BBM can do what he’s doing currently with a budget? By that, I mean can he bring players in who think they’re mustard (and have the record to prove that) or can he only nurture through potential? I would like to think he can and if we go up deserves the benefit of the doubt.

Good post I agree. He certainly could be better, but certainly not the worst. He is not ‘an evil dictator’ and he has not ‘stripped us to the bone.’ That is just silly. We are not facing administration etc etc.
Like all of us, he should get some credit when things go well, and criticism when things are bad.

Re: TAN: A BIG IF, BUT

He will stick with us as long as the sala case is done.
But even then I don't think he would want to leave us knowing we
are doing great great with this young team.

Credit for what?? He is the reason we are in this division with his lunatic decisions last season, and by the way as far as i'm concerned he is a VILE DICTATOR, the sooner he f**fs off from our club the better.
