Supporters should be aware that Sloper Road may be temporarily closed towards the end of Tuesday's match.
This measure is a part of South Wales Police's dynamic matchday plan. If actioned, Cardiff City fans will be unable to travel along Sloper Road in the direction of Penarth Road during this post-match period.
This decision will be made by South Wales Police in the interest of public safety. South Wales Police will make every effort to keep any possible disruption to a minimum.

Not great for many, but at least we have been warned
It additionally won’t help those needing to catch the infrequent late trains and buses from the Grangetown area at that time of night (10pm+}
Let’s hope (some of) those inconvenienced showed a bit more decorum than in previous similar situations

Its obvious really, its Chelsea with a full house, only a fool would let us down there after the game, especially if they repeat their offside trick from last time.
Appreciate it may not be 'convenient' for some.

For me this is not the solution. Most clubs if they think there would be disruption would keep away fans in to clear the roads for home fans to disperse. Yet it's us that must be inconvenienced

I agree that would be a better thing to do, but to be fair to them it's not the club's decision.

Hundreds will now miss their trains at Grangetown and get home very late. Its annoying when it happens on a Saturday , but midweek night game when you have work in the morning and the trains are infrequent it is a real pain.

Is that walking or just not allowed to drive on sloper?
Tue Dec 16, 2025 1:29 pm
I usually alight at Grangetown to get back to the Vale so the alternative is walking up to central instead, so yes, a bit of a hassle but expected.

I catch at Grangetown its a pain in the arse, i can't recall this in the Premier League when we played them
So now there are more meeting at central.........

I guess their thinking is the last PL game against them was at 2pm on a Sunday, while today a lot of people have had a full day drinking.
They do seem to be more careful with this game, some pubs not even letting Chelsea fans in.

Is it because the Chelsea headhunters are in town?

Just read it on the club site, "May" WTF, either make the decision or not !!!!!

Out of interest, was it closed and any issues?
I go in the opposite direction so didn't notice.

Ned, a lot of liquor licences withdrawn up until 8pm in local shops and garages to counter the ‘
walk up’ drinkers!
Some pretty p!$$3d up people on the trains heading out of Cardiff and I’m told the refusal to move along the train aisles resulted in lots of people who walked to Cardiff Central to avoid the Sloper Road delays, having to wait an additional hour for their next trains!
Didn’t really see any issues with the Chelsea supporters, who seemed able to walk through the police cordon in the opposite direction back to the main car park, whilst the Bluebird supporters were held back for some time!

Yes it was closed for about half an hour after the game and we were also stopped for about five minutes by the petrol station by the traffic lights halfway down Sloper Road.
SWP the only force in the country it seems happy to inconvenience home fans whilst prioritising the departure of away fans.
Lost count of how many away games we've had to wait on the coach for half an hour or more whilst the local plod allow the home fans to disperse and by the time the coaches are allowed to leave the traffic is ridiculous.
Nice bit of overtime for Plod last night though in time for Christmas.

Has a massive walk around Cardiff to get to our car.
As above it's incredible SWP agree to this all the time..
Makes more sense to allow home fans to disperse for 15 mins or so before allowing away fans to leave.
Countless times been away matches and been held back but our police like to inconvenience the majority fans many of which need to get the very last trains and bus

I could see the large Chelsea escort pre-game from the train at Central on the way in and heard two coppers saying that very few arrived by coach.
I thought Cardiff Central after the match would be pandemonium as the Chelsea fans arrive at the rear, but will be on platform 1, the front, and the Valley and Measteg lines at the back althogh we had to go in from the front.
It seems a bit crazy, like the old days in cardiff bus station/central
I begged my wife to pick me up from the law courts to save all the bother.
How was it, did the 22:34 go off on time?

Resulted in a lot people being unable to get on the last train to Rhoose and Llantwit from Grangetown as only two coaches which were filled by people going to Barry as well. Under normal circumstances Barry people would have got an earlier train. The guard was asking people from Barry to get off and let Llantwit people get on. Not much success there. Between them, the police and Transport for Wales combined to make it a bad night for Cardiff fans from the Vale
