Melee at final whistle

Sat Dec 13, 2025 10:52 pm

Can anyone enlighten me to what happened at the final whistle to day?

Re: Melee at final whistle

Sat Dec 13, 2025 10:59 pm

Was involving Chambers, not sure if Doncaster players thought he was winding their fans up, or if he was winding their fans up

Re: Melee at final whistle

Salech also seemed to be giving it.

I didn’t like the optics of that I’ll be honest.

Re: Melee at final whistle

Looked like a storm in a teacup situation.

Doncaster obviously frustrated about conceding a goal in the last second, when they deserved something from the game. It was an intense match anyway.

Don't think anything drastic happened, just the usual pushing and shoving.

Salech was 1 of the first Cardiff players across to back Chambers up who had a few Doncaster players around him

At the end he seemed to be waving or gesturing at Clifton. Looked bad tbh.

f**k that. Nice to see some charachter.

Robbo dealt with it, but id much rather see Salech in there than not.

Yes, he was acting as a peacemaker, and was telling the Doncaster player to go away and be with his own supporters

Overall, it was the proverbial ‘handbags’ and the players went their own ways!

Loved the way ‘Bartley Bluebird’ joined the celebrations at the end! A proper character is that bird, and took some ‘stick’ off the Doncaster lot before giving it back by skipping past, swinging his arms, as only he can!

Happy to see him back up his team mate personally, when your captain and team mate has a few around him get over and look after him. All handbags

We have had quite a few oppositionplayers giving it the big one in front of the canton so its good to see our players milking it for a change carry on chambers

Re: Melee at final whistle

Sun Dec 14, 2025 8:32 am

Yes, it was Chambers having banter with their fans, some of their players saw it and ran across. Watched it all from our position and loved every minute of it.
Probably a lot of frustration from our skipper as he didn't play that well today and his passion towards the City fans was evident at the end.

Hell yeah. Absolutely love the optics. Players fighting for each other, what we’ve been missing for years. Long may it continue.

He was gesturing him to walk away. Nothing that bad. At least he shows some balls and backs up his players and self

My mate is a Donny fan and he was there and said it seemed like showing off and rubbing it in. His words “ Giving it the big un beating little old donny. Pricks.”

Shoe on the other foot we would have fans trying to get on the pitch and players not liking that.

We complain when players are diving all over and acting cocks but we seem to applaud what seems like gloating at a 98th minute winner vs a team newly promoted who came and gave it their all.

As Desbluebird said about “little Stevenage” it’s not good optics and will make us hated, which is a shame when our manager extols the virtues we have said we have wanted for years.

Remember Warnock kicking off at Wolves’ celebrations?

All part of the game, handbags at the final whistle after a highly entertaining game. Chambers relieved to get the win and Donny fans and players hugely disappointed after pushing the league leaders all the way.

Wintle and Lawler were first on the scene to assist their captain, well done lads.

The team spirit I applaud. We definitely have that going on.

The reason it happened I do not applaud.

Happy to be disagreed with. Just my personal values.

Football players who deliberately wind up the opposing fans are the most unprofessional players out there.

In a highly emotional environment that football is these unprofessional players could cause a riot with their actions.

I totally understand your opinion and I'd imagine Chambers will this morning too.

These things happen in the heat of the occasion in all sports and will continue to.

We agree Ian crikey.

Didn’t that happen the other day as well with someone else?

Warnock had a total head loss that game because we missed two penalties late on. I've seen clubs' coaching staff celebrate a lot more than Wolves did that day so the refusal to shake hands from Warnock was more disrespectful in my view, but we shouldn't be surprised about anything from that man.

What happened yesterday was an overspilling of emotion after an intense game. I like the emotion but maybe it did go a little two far.

But easy to forget that a lot of this team are young and will still need to learn how to win match gracefully. I like Chambers, but as one of the experienced players he should really be leading on that front.

As I said, it was just a bit of emotion being let out and a storm in a teacup situation.

Football is an emotional game. Things like this happen. I’m sure Chambers will reflect this morning but seeing the Donny fans going from “you’ve seen the Rovers now f**k off home” to having a meltdown is pure poetic justice.

Simon, Lord forbid the supporters might ever show such passion, eh? Thankfully, we left all that behind at Ninian Park! ;) :laughing6:

I’ll make sure I’m fully respectful on Tuesday night roll the red carpet out for Chelsea.

Sounds more like people too touchy these days. I'm sure we won't see Chelsea fans celebrating on Tuesday night and if we happen to pull off the win. Then I suggest we just politely applaud and say we'll done both teams

Fans can do what they like and celebrate how they want. However why any fan would want to celebrate a really good win by goading the opposition fans is beyond me.

Players are different and while perfectly entitled (encouraged) to show passion, when the game is over your first action should be to shake the hands of the opposition.

What are we teaching our kids who play football with those scenes at the end of the game. That wasn’t passion or celebrating it was shithousery and made us look like pricks.

The players helping the captain after it kicked off was a good show of team spirit but it shouldn’t have been required.

If that was the other way round and Donny scored a 98th minute winner there would be blue murder on here about it.

Re: Melee at final whistle

Sun Dec 14, 2025 4:50 pm

it was all a bit weird. He started wandering over to the away end and started waving. I thought he must have friends in there, my daughter asked if he played for them.
I then thought our captain was clapping them, as for a smaller club, they travelled and made some noise, and the loss was a bitter pill to swallow, but it went on far too long!!

I can't recall anything but the boring, generic, usual chants from them, nothing personal or aimed at Chambers. All a bit puzzling

Absolutely, Lee!

Maybe “Bravo! Well done, chaps! You came to do us, and you done us good! Tatty bye, old chaps!” is the new way! :laughing6:

Yesterday was ‘passion’ after a late win, and it’s what I personally want to see more of! Shows us they care! :ayatollah: :bluebird:

You’re probably right! Just look at this thread! Some of our ‘supporters’ are turning against one of our own for showing some ‘passion’!

It was ‘handbags’ and people (on this occasion including you) are making mountains out of molehills! :ayatollah:
