Young Bluebird Luke Armstrong signs new dealCardiff City have tied down young goalkeeper
Luke Armstrong to a new long-term contract.
The 19-year-old has agreed fresh terms that will keep him in the Welsh capital until the summer of 2028, extending a stay that began when he joined the club from Wolves at the age of 16.
Armstrong has progressed through the Bluebirds’ youth ranks, impressing across the U18s and U21s before signing his first professional deal last year. This season he has gained senior experience on loan at Cymru Premier side Penybont, making 13 league appearances and featuring twice in the Europa Conference League’s first qualifying round.
Describing the new deal as “
massive”, Armstrong said he was grateful for the opportunities Cardiff had given him so far.
“
This club has backed me since I first joined when I was 16,” he said. “
There’s a great pathway and it’s such a good time to be a young player here. I’m looking forward to the future ahead.
“My loan has been really good. I’ve learned so much already and it’s been a huge benefit. When I get back in the building at City, I’ll look to show what I’ve learned.”
