No Rubin, no problem

Sat Dec 06, 2025 5:24 pm

Two and a half league games without Rubin.

Three wins and eight goals scored since his injury.

Some were making out that it would massively damage us, but that's not the case so far - albeit on a small scale given it's only two and a half games.

I thought we would struggle to create chances with rubin out, never been happier to be proved wrong and long may it Continue

Colwill is mercurial. On his day unplayable but not consistent enough. The team actually looks quite balanced without him. I am happy if we sell him next summer. Lawlor, Kapkio and even his brother are more important longer term.

I think this season he's been his most consistent & has been much better than previous seasons.

Not sure of the intent of this thread, but we were winning and playing well when he went off, they equalised, scored an own goal and Willock scored an excellent goal 1-3 was not a reflection of the game. We then had 2 home games.

Let's see how we get on Tuesday

Just making the point that maybe everybody's favourite golden boy isn't as crucial as they make out.

It's great that we've got another option at 10. We could try others there too which gives BBM some lovely options.

Not sure you need to word it quite like you do though Worcester (everybody's favourite golden boy). You are being quite derogatory there to a player that loves this club and gives his absolute all for.

There will be games where we will really miss his creativity and workrate while he's out injured.

Agreed. Rubin has taken way more shit on this forum than praise. He's had to earn his praise and rightly so.

Weird thread.

He decent in this league, it’s his level hence why he performs more consistently. But we were never gonna struggle without him.

Not being derogatory at all.

I admit it's a sample size, but we have not missed him one bit in these two and a half games.

It's not like he's been unplayable all season. He's improved but still has games where he's gone missing.

And I use the phrase "everybody's favourite golden boy" because it's true. There's been times he's had loads of MOTM votes even when he's done nothing. Like he's some sort of default selection because he can do no wrong.

I’ve been very critical of Rubin in the past. Only because I knew he had talent but it didn’t seem like he had the work ethic to reach his potential. Hes been a massive improvement this season but he’s not the cog that keeps us ticking. We have solid replacements.

The squad is stronger with rubin in it, thankfully we're not missing him yet but he will still play a crucial part during the run in, I want all our players fit and firing, we will need them all between now and may
