BBM : “ JANUARY TRANSFERS “

Thu Nov 27, 2025 1:27 pm

BBM:

Brian Barry-Murphy said he has an "obsession" to improve Cardiff City's squad, but will only recruit players in the January transfer window if they make the side significantly better.

"I think our focus is really to have an obsession on just improving the squad," the Bluebirds boss said.

"If we can improve the squad in January with significant players who we feel enhance the squad significantly, that's the idea.

"And then we believe that will take us to where we want to go in the long term, but I think as long as that is our strategy, then it avoids any impulsive reactions to things like things like Rubin's injury or players having losses of form.”

I agree about not making impulse signings, that's the mistake we've made before.

I honestly hope we don't sign any more than two or three, because then the squad would be too big and could harm the good work we've done so far.

And they have to have the quality to improve the team, not just signings for the sake of it, as BBM says.

Of BBM's signings so far Trott has been magnificent, Osho a big disappointment and for me the jury is still out on Kellyman.

The question is will he be backed annis. Despite what some say I'm sure he's got a list of 10 players who are better than the current playing team who would as he says "improve" the squad. If we see a loan or one signing who is better then for me he's not been backed even if he keeps saying he's happy with everything I don't believe that for one minute any manager would love better players despite the club and manager saying he's been backed and is happy. They are in a job so have to say the right things to keep the peace.

Id love to get 3 or 4 quality players who are better than the current ones then push on because injuries will pile up more with lesser players so to speak to step in which will cost us in my opinion. If the club are serious about promotion there's no better time than after Xmas depending on where we are by then due to injuries and so on due to this small squad and players who cut it or not . To date has done really good but we can all see at times when the wheels may come off but have rode our luck in a good few games Fingers crossed we are in the same position ISH come end of December:bluescarf:
