List - Free agents for Jan?

Wed Nov 26, 2025 2:47 pm

The list of free agents has some decent players on offer - some we would never get but others we would have a chance for

BBM has done very well but 2 or 3 of the right sort of players coming in the Jan window I think would see us push for the top 2 come then end of the season

A long list on there, so why don’t you start the (proverbial) ball rolling and let us know who you think we might go for?

My own view, for starters, is that BBM already has his ‘plans’ and (subject to ‘Billy and Bobby’ backing him) there will be only two or three; mainly younger ‘loanees’ with drive and ambition

We could see a similar number leave on loan or permanently too, although I don’t expect any money-driven outgoings whilst we are pushing for the automatic spots, as we need to keep the core of this young and improving squad together at all costs! :ayatollah:

Well, I cant tell you who I think we might go for as like you quite rightly said, BBM will have his plans in place for the window

But I can tell you who I personally would like to see us go for (there arent many "youngsters" but a few with experience that could make a difference)

George Pușcaș - 29 yo - Centre-Forward
Nathan Redmond - 31 - Winger
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain - 32 - Central Midfield
Layvin Kurzawa - 33 - Left-Back

The Ox’ has been linked before, but not for me now, nor Redmond. I don’t know the other two, but they may be good options

Puscas scored twice for Reading on his home debut against Cardiff City.
Romanian international 46 caps 11 goals
Would be a handful in L1 6ft 2 rt footed
Free agent

I'm happy with our squad, maybe a couple of loan signings to cover LB and Rubin's injury.

But no more than that really.

Certainly wouldn't bother signing free agents that nobody else wants.

Probably only realistic options there would be Redmond, Duncan Watmore, Puscas and Sam Morsy for me.

Though I’d assume they’re all too old for BBM

Id like to think we're past the point of signing unwanted journeymen.

BBM was very picky in the summer and id imagine he would rather have 1 or 2 players with a good attitude and workrate.

Or maybe try getting behind him to build confidence. He's clearly being coached to pass it around at the back. His general play (from my view) has been good - yet some seem to be obsessing on some glaring clangers.

If, and it’s a big if, we bring anyone in it’ll be promising youngsters or young loanees like Kellyman.

They are free agents for a reason. Nobody else wants them. I hope we can tap in to BBM's contacts and bring in a loan or two from the Premier League to see us through to the summer
