Rubins replacement

Sun Nov 23, 2025 4:53 pm

It will be really interesting to see who BBM slots into Rubin's position. Even his previous detractors would say he has been a revelation this season, but he is a unique talent that can't be replicated. I can't think of a player who has played 6,8,9, 10 as well as a winger

Who would you like to see there?

Forwards
Davies - I am old school, so Davies would give teams a whole new dimension to think about. Raw pace in behind :old:
Ashford- I feel he is an attacking midfielder better suited centrally than the spaces of the flanks
Robinson - Of three seasons ago, this would be a no-brainer, but wants to be in the same space as Salech can't stretch play
Kellyman- Talented kid who hasn't shown he has the minerals to be the main man, it's a grafters role in BBMs system

Midfeilders
Robertson - The obvious choice, but may be needed as the 8
Turnbull- May as well try him as a keeper, as he doesn't excel in any of the midfield positions in a system he should
Joel- offers old school running in behind, which his brother doesn't offer, eye for goal. (may be out next week)

I's like to see Davies there as it changes the game plan, the centre halves would now have to worry about the flick on, and as most of our games are at home, we need a forward there. If that is too attacking,I want to see Ashford in the muck and bullets of the central areas. I think he excels in limited space, so we never see what he is about in the space of the flanks.

Assuming Wintle is the 6, I d prefer Robertson ahead of him as the 8 and leave Turnbull on the bench, so it's guaranteed BBM will select Turnbull next week.

I know I keep it a closely guarded secret, but I'm a big fan of BBM.

That said, possibly the only thing I don't agree with him on is the regular inclusion of Turnbull. I fail to see what he offers, wherever he plays.

I like the Kellyman option, particularly as Willock is back to play on the wing. Ten is Kellyman's natural position. Didn't see the game yesterday but seen he's received a bit of criticism. I think putting him in his natural position could help.

Rubin puts in alot of graft without the ball (which rarely gets acknowledged, specifically on here..); for me, this writes off Ashford and Kellyman as neither look like they want to bust a gut this season. I am not seeing anything that gives me hope for Kellyman I'm afraid.

Robbo wont be as effective without the ball, but could offer more with/in attack.

I'd like to see Robertson in the for the next game, with the option for him to tuck and and support if/when needed and Wintle & Turnbull are being over-ran.

Isaac is also a good shout. I'd like to see him there before Kellyman or Ashford myself. He's giving 110%.
