MY VIEW: THIS WAS WAY MORE TOUGHER THAN I THOUGHT / BUT FAIR PLAY NOT THE BEST PERFORMANCE / A VICTORY AWAY FROM HOME IS EXACTLY WHAT CARDIFF NEEDED ABD THEY GOT IT:

Sign of a good team.

I will take these 3pts any day

And a 3-1 away victory is what counts

“WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE”

Cardiff today faced a Northampton in 16th place and had lost 4 of their 6 games.

My Man of the Match Joel Bagan his crosses / corners were brilliant today and we need to do this in every game.

Trott has once again made a couple of great saves.

Northampton had more Possession : But CARDIFF WON & THATS WHAT MATTERS / POSSESSION MEANS NOTHING

Shots Northampton 16 Cardiff 9

FIRST-HALF: After Cardiff scored after only 8mins it was virtually All Northampton

Northampton 8 Shots Cardiff 3 Shots

8mins 1nil Cardiff, lovely finish by Joe Colwill

15mins Northampton hit the post.

19 mins Rubin Colwill hobbled off in agony ( ankle)replaced by Turnbull.

27min Northampton's Forbes heads a great chance just wide from a corner.
That was a big let-off for the Bluebirds

40 mins Perkins forces a brilliant save from Trott in the Cardiff goal

SECOND-HALF: City had to defend for long period and Trott made some excellent saves once again.

Northampton were pushing:

58 min Ethan Wheatley holds his man off, drives forward and finds the back of the net from the edge of the area 1-1

58 mins Colwill, Kellyman and Davies depart. On come Robertson, Willock and Ng

60min Own goal Yes
Looks like an own goal from a Bagan corner 1-2

67 mins Wintle's effort off the line after another dangerous Bagan corner!

74 mins Salech has the ball in the back of the net after another brilliant Bagan delivery, but the referee rules it out for a push on a Northampton defender, it was a foul

Northampton really started to go at us and City had to really defend.

82mins Osho on for Fish.

87 mins Trott saves well from Wheatley to keep the game alive for City.
Big moment

93 mins Willock with a fantastic goal

NORTHAMPTON 1 CARDIFF CITY 3

H-T 0–1

Cardiff City: Trott, Kpakio, Fish, Chambers, Bagan, Wintle, J. Colwill, R. Colwill, Kellyman, Davies, Salech.

Not a great performance but a big win in difficult conditions. Could've folded after conceding the equaliser but battled on and dug in. Great goal on the counter to finish it off.

Yeatley really gave us a hard time. We should try and steal him!

Thought we were poor today but gave 100% effort and that was enough to see us take the points, rubin going off killed our momentum, but we dug in and ground out the win, fans were brilliant today and the limbs when willock scored were insane

Their left winger was decent. I hope someones told him about the bright lights of Cardiff as he out-perfomed Kellyman (who had yet another stinker).

Great win. Battled hard. Chambers was class.

Get in there the boys.

Sounds like it was a real toughy today but with 100% effort we got through it.

Games like this will do us the world of good, our youngsters especially. We'll hopefully be pretty battle hardened come the last 20 games and then who knows.

Fingers crossed Rube is OK coz he's so important to us.

Northampton couldn't have scored Willock's goal!

When it counts, we have a bit too much quality for most teams in this division.

I’m a huge fan of BBM and he’s doing an amazing job, but I have to say we rode our luck today. Had it not been for Trott and some brilliant last-ditch defending, we would have lost.

The game changed when Ruban went off. Yes, any team would miss him, but I really didn’t understand the straight swap for Turnbull. You’re replacing one of our best pressers with someone who struggles to press at all.

There were clear alternatives on the bench, Willock being one of them showing his qualities with the third goal.

A massive congratulations to the management and players on a hard-fought win. I just felt we handed the impetus to Northampton with that change, and on another day it could easily have gone the other way.

Saying all that.... we are top of the league!! :bluescarf: :ayatollah: :bluescarf:

Didn't see the game so can't comment on the performance.

But an away win, the joint top scorers in the division and top of the league with games in hand and a lot of home games coming up.

Got to be happy.

I thought Robertson would have been the 1 to replace Colwill. The game seemed to pass Turnbull by.

Willock just back from injury so maybe didn't want to bring him on too early.

Robertson would definitely have made more sense than Turnbull. Having Robertson and Colwill in front of Wintle offers a much better balance, and if Rubin is out, it’s probably the safest combination.

I’d definitely be interested to see Willock or Kellyman in the No. 10 role, as they would likely maintain the attacking element, and it’s something that hasn’t been explored yet. The goal threat from Willock around the box, like
today and Luton is an exciting prospect.
