World Cup disadvantage?

Wed Nov 19, 2025 3:33 pm

The draw for WC is on Dec 5 but there are countries who won't qualify until late march! Are they disadvantaged as cannot properly arrange training centres accommodation ect with any certainty? We see it with playoff teams in efl being about a
Month behind automatic promoted teams.....
Also will infantino magic up a way for Ronaldo to play from start of WC since he's banned for first two games? No coincidence he's visited trump with Saudi ruler at same time.! :o

The short answers are yes & yes.

The longer teams have to wait to know if/where they're playing the less chance they will be able to book hotels & training facilities somewhere although FIFA could alleviate matters by booking hotels etc in advance.

As for the Ronaldo question, of course FIFA will decide to wipe the slate clean of cards & sending offs before a ball is kicked under the pretense that it's only right that everyone starts with a clean slate. I'm not sure that Portugal are a better team with that weight (Ronaldo) around their necks though rather than with him suspended, but that's another discussion for another day.

I know can reserve hotels as for training would have though there's several in each state can use.. but its not same as knowing precisely where and what facilities canuse need fact finding missions to get it right...
Ronaldo was my thoughts on him... and having seen couple Portuguese games recently he certainly appeared an hinderance to team rather than an asset.

Yes definitely at a disadvantage but everybody knew the rules and we have been there in the last World Cup.
Sad thing is if we had shut up shop at 3-3 with Belgium we wouldn’t be talking about this :banghead:

Apparently if they wanted to have everyone qualify at same time would need to have larger groups and 2 extra international breaks! Unfortunately uefa and fifa have taken up all the space there was available... except for next march

Any ‘professional’ organisation, will have plans in place for all potential qualification eventualities, including failure; and it will be the same for the later rounds of the competition once there

I’m sure I read the accommodations and training facilities for later rounds are already agreed, and it will just be a case of which team turns up, with all necessary training and dietary requirements waiting to be implemented accordingly

As for Ronald O, they will try to move heaven and earth to fully involve ‘one of their own’ in the Saudi World Cup, and Infantino will bend over further than a Donald Trump Cabinet Minister to please his paymasters!

Football at that level is now a financial industry, and the ‘drip’ to other leagues/competitions is gathering pace, too!

And there we have it, no need to speculate anymore. One rule for all unless you're Ronaldo then the rules don't apply.

Re: World Cup disadvantage? Ronaldo fix

Ronaldo as been given 3 match ban for sending off against rep Ireland...BUT! 2 games suspended so will miss game against Armenia and will be able to start WC with Portugal! Said would fix it so he plays so it's proved to be case.
