The Glue and Spine

Sun Nov 09, 2025 9:16 pm

I can understand why BBM chooses to alternate. It is a very long season and by doing it when injuries and suspensions come in players will be able to replace others seamlessly. However, a spine is crucial and by now it is surely clear that our spine is Trott, Lawlor, Fish, Rubin and Salech. In addition I think Wintle is the glue who holds it all together. He is unfussy, dependable, keeps his position and keeps things ticking. Surely it is no coincidence that we were doing so well at the start of the season when he was playing nearly every game. Other players can fight for the other positions but the players I named must be first choice. Turnbull and Robertson are decent but sometimes it’s the unsung unheralded players like Wintle who are the key to success. I do not know why he’s been left out recently but he must be restored.
In addition why Salech gets no decisions from the referees is scandalous. In this league as soon as the ball comes to him defenders are allowed to wrap their arms around him so he can’t move. This is just plain wrong.

I feel like people don't listen to the manager, that's part of the problem with our entitled fanbase at the moment.

Lawlor has had issues because he's growing, can't play every game.

Fish has had an issue for a while too so also can't play every game.

Trott, Rubin and Salech mostly play so no issue there.

Things would be a lot simpler for people to understand if they just listened to him.

I absolutely agree with you Worcester. Disappointing result yesterday but we are 4th with a game in hand. Really pleased.

Yeah, you're fairly balanced to be fair so respect your opinions. My post wasn't having a go at your comments but more what others have said about squad rotation - I will not use the word Tinker, because I think it is offensive to a manager who is doing a great job.

Nobody is saying things are perfect right now but some really need to get a grip.

Actually, i know you are not a fan, but it was good to see the 6'5" (former) skinny kid rag doll a hardened centre half around yesterday

He does have growing pains though, that's just the reality of his situation. I'm sure it will be resolved after this season but that's why he has to be in and out of the team.

I know it's a real thing my daughter, around 16 went from 5' to 5'9" over 18 months post puberty and has only gotten over the pain at 23
