Team Balance

It’s not there, and it’s 100% because the squad continues to be rotated.

I’m not buying it’s a long season, and you have to keep players fresh. When we were winning that team should have stayed the same unless there was an injury or suspension.

Yes the tinker man has definitely tinkered way too much.

I don't know much .. I have watched city for over 50 years.
The weak link is the midfield. The colwills are far to light weight.
Absolutely ridiculous. Surely he can spot this ??

Totally agree. The team never gets a chance to settle with all the changing. We go from these perfect performances to these dire and embarrassing performances.

Is Wintle injured or has something happened behind the scenes.

You're spot on and it's obvious why the team isn't balanced.

It's the second game in the row we have played away from home without a natural holding midfielder.

Man City used Fernandinho, now they use Rodri and Nico Gonzalez in Rodri's absence this season.

Liverpool used Xabi Alonso, Fabinho and now Gravenberch.

So who the hell do we think we are thinking we are too good to need a holding midfielder to give us the balance and control we need?

It's "only Peterborough" and "only Blackpool", so we don't need a holding midfielder.

I'm massively concerned our manager didn't learn from the Peterborough game. It's stubborness and arrogance thinking we are too good to require a holding midfielder away from home.

I would even start both Wintle and Chambers as holding midfielders in some games away from home. We need to dominate games first before being more open and expansive, especially away from home. Chambers played well there for us last season. He's an ex England international and won player of the season for Fulham in the Premier League as a holding midfielder.

I wonder what our manager was expecting today. Ian Evatt used to get his Bolton team scoring lots of goals. We all know what type of character he is from his playing days against us. We all knew Ian Evatt would get his Blackpool team playing with intensity, aggressiveness and they would be direct to test us.

Our manager failed to respect Blackpool today and thought playing two technically gifted midfielders with Robertson and Rubin, plus Joel Colwill doing the running would be sufficient.

People say BBM sees Robertson as a holding midfielder, but this didn't work at Peterborough and it's not his natural position. We need someone in there who knows the position, knowing what areas to take up to close the gaps in front of the defence, someone who is used to looking over his shoulder to spot opponents running from deep and will run backwards with them to snuff out the danger.

Our team has lacked the required balance the past two games and that's 100% the managers fault. Our manager needs to learn fast. It isn't good enough.

Yet the majority were (more than) ‘happy’ when the team :ayatollah: was announced for today!
