BBM: “DUE LAWLORS ISSUES WE HAVE BEEN QUITE STRETCHED”

Thu Nov 06, 2025 12:29 pm

INJURY UPDATE:

BBM:

Ahead of Saturday's clash, Brian provided an injury update on his squad.

“We’ve not seen Will Fish this week in terms of training, he’s a doubt. I don’t think he will train today, but he may train tomorrow. In all likelihood, it’ll mean that he won’t be available for Saturday. “

“Since the game against Newport County, Will has had a knee problem and we’ve been monitoring him since then.

"Due to the nature of Dylan Lawlor’s issues, we’ve been quite stretched so Will has been the one who has played all the games, whereas we have rotated the other position at centre-back.”

“The international fixtures come at a good time for us to try and get everyone fit.”

“Will joins Perry Ng, who we’ll look to have back after the international fixtures and Chris Willock is in an identical timeline to Perry. Ollie Tanner is making good progress and Eli King is longer term.

But he's happy with the size of the squad and will go another 7 months with it.....yeah.

Paul,

He’s going to get himself looking Silly, as we all know he says he’s happy with the small squad and thanking Tan for his full backing when it’s pure bullshit.

Every Manager continues to say all this to keep Tan happy, but it’s a results game, so win the games and say you need to strengthen and you won’t look stupid.

Been my mantra all along injuries suspensions will take there toll with a small squad it's ludicrous.
Murphy should be able to manage a bigger squad all this togetherness b.llocks with a small squad is no good if there not there though and you have no one to call on except rookies.

I think it will become even worse in the winter months if we don't add QUALITY in January.

We literally have 4 high league one/championship quality centre-backs and 2 right backs. That's ridiculous depth in those areas.

The same people moaning about the size of the squad are the ones demanding he plays the same 11 every game. Have a day off

So have I and I've gone so far as to say the squad we had from the start was not strong enough but I'm told I am wrong.

Agree.

There's an argument (which I don't agree with) that we're short in some areas of the pitch but CB isn't one of those areas.

If we had six natural CBs then people would say we had too many - can't win.

Common sense at last!! Yes we are a bit short in a couple of positions -left back the most obvious- but so are all sides. We are in League One. At centre half we undoubtedly are very strong especially if you add in NG and we have probably have the best second eleven in the league when all fit. Injuries are inevitable for all sides but how many sides in this league can replace their two centre halves with players of the calibre of Chambers and Osho (who admittedly has had a couple of mares but is obviously class).

Yes 4 CB's is plenty. There will be people saying he's tinkering again on Saturday when Fish and Lawlor don't start

BBM has admitted himself in that interview that he's been rotating one of the centre halves.

Ng is a better goalkeeper than he is centre half.

Osho is so short of confidence at the moment that he is currently a liability every time he plays.

He's not saying Lawlor is out of this game.

He's just saying that Lawlor has had some issues which is why he's missed some games. He's spoken about it before, Lawlor has a few niggles because he's growing - similar to what Rubin had in the past.

The defenders we are without on Saturday are Fish and Ng, which is no major drama because we are well stocked at CB.

Some people cannot think logically if you had a choice of 20 good players you would say there is no need,
we have 15 good players.?

Absolutely Spot on:

And yes I like BBM , but he’s only saying half the things like he does not need players, likes small squads to keep Tan happy.

So you'd be happy if we had six senior CBs in the squad? Six!!

Surely not?

Ned, I tend to agree!

My main concern being that even if we had a ‘bigger’ squad, at what quality level would those ‘extras’ be; particularly given the (lack of) money being invested in players this season?

A ‘large’ squad certainly didn’t work last season, did it? :?

We (and definitely Vincent Tan) are extremely ‘lucky’ that we have a large part of our youth squad that are certainly stepping up to the mark, and being well guided by a manager who understands them and (occasionally) their vulnerabilities as they learn to cope with the rigours of League One football

Some will always ‘moan’ without consideration for the background situation, but the simple fact is we have a very good squad that only needs a couple of quality additions come Christmas, and might well lose that small but effective group mentality that will be needed for the battles ahead :ayatollah:

What is the" background situation" I think a lot of fans are more worried and concerned rather than just" moaning" and a lot are I should Imagine are calling for 4 quality players, not a lot, and not just anybody

Re: BBM: “DUE LAWLORS ISSUES WE HAVE BEEN QUITE STRETCHED”

I think we need 3 players in January, a left back a strong mobile number 6 and a fast pacey forward, I've never liked big massive squads where players who are never in the squad sometimes upset the harmony in the dressing room

We have a squad of 18 who will be there most days and then half a dozen youngsters who can come in when there's injuries or suspensions but are just happy to be in and around the first team learning there trade, it's probably why the squad is the happiest it's been for ages as there's not a load of senior pros not being picked throwing there toys out of the pram
