Very disappointed with the U21S in the last couple of games.
The quality has been poor, to say the least. I really enjoy watching our academy players develop, but the pace and intent in yesterday’s game against QPR U21S were shocking. The attacking [press] was virtually non-existent — I’ve seen quicker attacks from 50–70-year-olds playing walking football!
If the aim is to develop players for the first team, this style of play simply isn’t helping. The academy needs to seriously raise the tempo and intensity, because there’s no way this kind of slow, passive football will help our young players improve or prepare for the next level.

That sounds no different to standing in the stand on Saturday watching the 1st team, unfortunately
