BREAKING: ANOTHER PREMIER LEAGUE SACKING

Sun Nov 02, 2025 11:44 am

Wolves have parted company with manager Vitor Pereira with the club rooted to the foot of the Premier League table.

Pereira, 57, becomes the fourth top-flight boss to be sacked this season after presiding over just one win from the opening nine games of the 2025-26 campaign.

The former Fenerbahce and Corinthians boss was only handed a new three-year deal in September with Jeff Shi, the club's chairman, saying Pereira 'needs time to work with the squad, to build a chemistry with new players, and we will do everything to support him and his staff.'

But Shi's hand has been forced after Saturday's abject 3-0 defeat at Fulham in the Premier League.

Pereira arrived in the Black Country last December and steered the club away from trouble to finish 16th in the table.

The following summer saw significant upheaval of the playing squad, with the likes of Matheus Cunha, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Nelson Semedo among the key names to depart Molineux.

No surprise here, and a somewhat familiar pathway to that of our own Erol Bulut last season!

If you look at his managerial record, he has managed so many clubs and doesn't seem to stay anywhere more than a year.

Amazed he got the job in the first place.

They've lost to all three promoted clubs and two points from their first ten is shocking.

No idea who they'll go with now. Dyche would have been the obvious choice to battle relegation but he's not available now.

They look in big trouble whoever comes in, so some managers will want to dodge this job.

Other managers likely to go soon if performance dont improve... manning at Norwich the Southampton coach.. who by way have won 4 of last 51 games only! Sure if look around be more vulnerable to getting the boot. :old:

Good shout. Lee Grant at Huddersfield also probably at risk as they were expected to compete at the top.

Managers live and die by the club's recruitment; Wolves have lost their assets for very good money, but the replacements haven't gotten going or are just not a like-for-like replacements.

I understand why they changed, but i don't think its his fault.

They lost Cunha and Ait Nouri to the Manchester clubs for a combined total of £93m.

I suppose the fans will be frustrated that only a very small fraction of that was re-invested in the squad. Wouldn't have expected to spend it all on new players, but more than they did or another relegation fight was inevitable.

When you lose two players of that ability and don't replace them with anything near then you're asking for trouble.

That said, his record of not staying at clubs long speaks for itself. Then there was the incident last week when he was arguing with fans, never a good look.

They look doomed whoever comes in.

Spot on! Ironically, I was with a Wolves supporter last night (and a Liverpool one) and he said that himself. He also mentioned Pereira’s ‘confidence’ in building a winning squad ‘given time’; neither of which he felt were going to happen

‘Can’t score, can’t defend’ sounds all too familiar from a former Fenerbache coach, eh? :(

They're only ever happy when they beat us anyway. Hope Wrexham smash them when they play each other.

Getting rather silly now ned! The daft thing is there is only a small pool of managers so they're just going from club to club those lucky enough to get job that is..... I added swans coach as well their fans unhappy yesterday but its been tgat way all season....a couple games without a win and be hovering over the bottom 3 16th at moment..

Your point proven as it looks like Gary O'Neil is going back to Wolves - less than a year after they sacked him

Perhaps it's time for a rule to come in of a manager must be employed for a season at least? Because at moment life expectancy in championship was 9 months bet its less now premier league getting same.

O'Neil as ruled himself out of wolves role. :old:

Re: BREAKING: ANOTHER PREMIER LEAGUE SACKING

Gary O'Neil has pulled out of the running to become Wolves manager after coming close to a shock return to the club.

The 42-year-old had been a contender for a surprise comeback to replace Vitor Pereira, 11 months after being sacked.

Sources told BBC Sport a large part of the deal had been agreed but O'Neil has now withdrawn from the process.

Former Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag - sacked by Bayer Leverkusen in September after just three games in charge - is of interest to Wolves as they continue dialogue with several other candidates.

Under the terms of his 12-month severance package from when he was sacked last December, O'Neil is still being paid by the club.

BBC Sport reported on Sunday O'Neil - together with Middlesbrough boss Rob Edwards - was among the contenders to replace Pereira at Molineux.
Pereira - who replaced O'Neil last December - was sacked on Sunday after Saturday's 3-0 defeat at Fulham left them eight points from the safety line and bottom of the Premier League.

Wolves have just two points from 10 games - a total no side in the Premier League has survived with.

No idea who they'll go with now, most managers will avoid that job because it would be almost definitely a relegation on their CV.

They look in a real mess.

Looks like Rob Edwards is going to Wolves.

Middlesbrough turned down the approach to speak to him but his pre-match press conference was cancelled today and it seems inevitable he'll be going to Wolves.

He used to play for Wolves so has that connection but Middlesbrough fans are not at all happy with him.

Could well be picking a fight he cannot win there, if he keeps them up I will eat all my hats and I got a few :bluebird:
