Hmmmmm: This Def will not be BBM

Why would you give him a an extension m?

We have seen time and time again how by this age inf they have not made it?

OPINIONS?

A GOOD DEBATE PLEASE?

Eli King 23 yrs old next month ( injury prone )

In nearly 5 years Eli King has only made 6 First Team Appearances for the Bluebirds

Eli King has signed a contract extension with the #Bluebirds!

The midfielder has put pen to paper on an agreement that will see him remain in the Welsh capital until the summer of 2027

Ian,

Time after time we do this. We seem to Never ever learn?

Very very strange decision?

I think with his time spent with stevenage last season has stood him in good stead it's not an expensive contract for him or city why not nothing to lose

I think beyond the player this shows some loyalty from our club that will be looked at beyond just Eli. Let's be honest his wages will be minimal and in fairness to his pre season performance I thought he would be an asset this season.

Good luck on rehab and come back stronger

Would have been saying the same about Joel Bagan a couple of years ago and hes now a regular starter. It will be a relatively cheap contract so if it doesnt work out its low risk but one worth taking.

It's effectively a one year extension and I actually agree with it.

He's missing the whole of this season with an unlucky injury.

He can come back next pre-season and prove himself.

He's not on big money and it's only an extra year so it's low risk.

Des,

They said Eli would be one of the best players we have produced.

But we’ve sent him out none stop

And he’s been very injury prone.

6 appearances in nearly 5 years, he’s 23 yrs old next month.

For me he should of made it by now.

We were loyal to Kieron Evans & Etete recently, we only have a small wage budget nowadays and have to get it right nowadays.

6 appearances in all these years.

Bagan has found his level and is excellent this season, but is not consistent like this in the Championship.

Hopefully we are back in there next season and I don’t see Ling good enough.

Ned,

How many times have we been down this road , the lad is 23 yrs old in December.

6 appearances.

You complain about Rubin yet he’s same age nearly and had made over 150 appearances for us.

Maybe he's not good enough to start right now, and that's okay. You need a good squad of players, and it's unrealistic to have first team quality back-ups in every position for 2 reasons: the higher wages they'd demand and how happy they'd be to sit on the bench.

I think it's fine to extend King, a local lad who wants to play for the club and is willing to wait for his chance to prove himself.

And let's not pretend that wages are an issue here, he'll barely be on anything. We'd have to offer higher wages and a transfer/signing on fee to get in a replacement for someone who is effectively our 6th choice midfielder.

I think it would have been a bad look to turn our back on someone who would have got a chance this season but got a serious injury.

But We would not have turned our back on him as he had another years contract, now he has two years and has never proved himself in the Championship???

23 years old, injury prone. 6 appearances for City in nearly 5 yrs, had one more years contract already, for me that says enough and our track record is abysmal.

Very pleased we've renewed his contract. He showed last season for Stevenage he's a top midfielder at this level and I think he would have featured a lot this season if it wasn't for his cruel injury. I think he has the potential to be an excellent Championship midfielder. He can't be on a big wage and being a local lad happy to play for us, it makes perfect sense to keep him on.

i think its a bit unfair on the lad hes been loaned out to gain experience by clowns who think they know how to run a club. BBM would of had a slight influence on this as he probably would like to see what he is like after the injury. if he isn't up to BBM standard he will be sold hence the 2 year deal can get a little bit of cash for him if sold

I totally disagree.

BBM talked well of the lad all through preseason and, in my opinion, is 100% overlord of the transfer and recruitment policy.

Exactly this. Played well in league 1 last year and started well pre season this year. Little gamble and as said below look at bagan now

Tbf to club he's been here since a young child. Either let him leave at end of season with no contract and get slated for no loyalty to a young kid who's been here 10 to 15 years. Or give him a chance to get fit and prove himself again to us/ other clubs and get a move or become a decent squad player for us

Well BBM said King could be an elite number 6 for us so it could have been to do with BBM.

You forgot "and get slated for that" at the end.
