AFTER A BRILL WIN AND PERFORMANCE AWAY TO CHAMPIONSHIP CLUB WREXHAM

Thursday 30th October 2025

This Saturday Cardiff are away to Peterborough in the FACUP 1St Rd

BBM:

“I think we’re improving all the time.”

“I have no regrets over the size of our squad.”

"We prepare exactly the same to give ourselves a chance to win the game.”

Brian Barry-Murphy: “We have a few injury doubts for Saturday “

"Chris Willock won't be available for Saturday. He had a scan on his rec fem (top of thigh) and it's pretty positive news. But he definitely won't be available for Saturday and probably not for Blackpool, so it'll be after the international break.

Callum Robinson rocked his ankle in training on Monday and wasn't fit on Tuesday morning. He'll be assessed but at this point is a doubt for Saturday.

We have a few doubts for Saturday based on the week we've had."

Ollie Tanner Out till January

Eli King out for the season

Brian Barry-Murphy:

"Always I want there to be a sense of opportunity for all the players at the club and they can feel as if there's a start around the corner.

We've had weeks where Mafico and Robertson have been left out of the squad. And then Alex comes back in, we had seven outfield players on the bench on Saturday.

If all these players are fit then someone's going to miss out because I wouldn't regularly have no goalkeeper on the bench, that was a one off.

I don't really like having players who can't be in the matchday squad, it's not something I'm keen on. So I'm very pleased with the size of the squad."

Because of his yellow card on Tuesday, Ronan Kpakio will be suspended for the game against Chelsea.

Omari Kellyman is on loan from Chelsea. He could still play in the game, but Chelsea would have to approve that.

In the FA Cup, players on loan can not play against their own team.

But in the Carabao Cup, they can play against their own team - providing the team that they're on loan from give their written consent

Peterborough United appoint Luke Williams as their new manager.

Williams has been out of work since being sacked by Swansea in February.

He will replace Darren Ferguson, who left the club for the fourth time following their defeat to Blackpool at the weekend.

VINCENT TAN SPEAKS TO ME DIRECTLY:

Brian Barry-Murphy:

"The owner is very clear, very direct and very honest in what he wants to see.

He's very respectful to me in terms of how I want us to play to achieve that. But if you don't achieve that then he's going to ask you why and you better be ready.

I was pleased with how we responded to Saturday, our attacking play was much better.

Cian Ashford back helped. We didn't give away the ball in the final third. His combination play with Rubin and the relationship too by Omari, Joel and Ronan helped us have sustained attacks in the final third and create better chances.

So having Cian back and fully fit was a big benefit to us."

The Bluebirds head into the fixture after a 2-1 win over Wrexham in the Carabao Cup, with a fixture against Chelsea to come in the Quarter-Final.

BBM:

“I think we were clear from the start, the idea was to give the players and the supporters, everybody associated with the Club the opportunity to experience something unique," Brian began.

"Wrexham was a case of that and now Chelsea at home is a great opportunity for all of our supporters to attend the game against a team who are the world champions and have so many world class players.

"It's going to be a great occasion when it comes around but it seems a long way off in the distance at this point.

"When that game comes around, to see our stadium as full as near to full as possible will be a great occasion and something we're all looking forward to.

"For the players, they'll just be focused on training today and preparing for Saturday. We never look further than today because of how important it is. We just have to remain consistent in the way we train and try and play."

Ahead of beginning our Emirates FA Cup campaign, Brian said: "We prepare exactly the same to give ourselves a chance to win the game.”

"Peterborough have brought in Luke Williams so it's as important as ever to focus on ourselves and try to make sure we're in the best condition possible.

"It's quite difficult to prepare for his team with Peterborough because they're so new.

"More than ever, we have to focus on ourselves and be at our best to give ourselves a chance of progressing, and that's our intention."

“I think we’re improving all the time," Brian added. "There’s obviously inconsistencies in our performance, which is very natural and normal when a new team is forming.

"We’re progressing; the challenge for us is to be consistent more and more, and try to reflect that in our performances.

"That is the intention throughout the season, but the players have shown that they’re willing to be really focused on that and I’m sure if we can do that, we’ll be fine."

Ng:

‘People probably think that because I’m not playing as much now that I’m disappointed, but this is probably the happiest I’ve been with the club. I love the style of football that we’re playing and feel like if we all stick together, we can go a long way.’

Love this attitude from Ng.

Like he says he hasn't played as much as usual but still gives 100% when he does play.

To be fair, it doesn't seem like any of the players who haven't been in the team regularly have sulked.

Hmmmmm: This Def will not be BBM

Why would you give him a an extension m?

We have seen time and time again how by this age inf they have not made it?

Eli King 23 yrs old next month ( injury prone )

In nearly 5 years Eli King has only made 6 First Team Appearances for the Bluebirds

Eli King has signed a contract extension with the #Bluebirds!

The midfielder has put pen to paper on an agreement that will see him remain in the Welsh capital until the summer of 2027
