It’s been an odd season so far; but that’s why football is called ‘a strange game’!

At least there’s no sign of the ‘Jacks’ or ‘Gogs’ threatening to be amongst them! They know their places! :laughing6: :ayatollah:

I think the game is changing back a bit to doing what you do well and not trying to be something you are not capable of.

Pep is a one-off, and i think other managers have realized he is a generational talent and given up trying to imitate him. The game at the top level is never going back to 442 big man, little man hitting long all the time, but its interesting to see teams mixing it up this season, whereas only a few seasons back, you were almost ridiculed.

Have corners and other set plays got that good, or is having ball playing centre half's and keepers losing the art of defending?

Anyway, good to see different names up there.

Maybe the ball as something to do with the throw ins and corners being successful? It simply moves all over the place keepers and defenders no idea where the ball is ending up! Was mentioned today that dead balls are taking over main scauce of goals ...
Bbm style football is fine but there is some fundamentally wrong when team can have 60%+ possession in final 3rd but can only muster 6 shots all game none on target.... crosses not much better minimal amount get to city players ... as for premier league there are established clubs very worried as 2 promoted clubs doing so well they don't look like relegation candidates leaving others looking at relegation instead!

I hate seeing these long throw ins coming back to the PL. It feels like going back in time and not in a good way.

I'm hoping they soon stop being successful so then they disappear again. I'd hoped football had moved on from that.

As for the PL, there's a theme recently of two or three teams doing better than expected in recent years.

We had Forest last season, Villa breaking into the Champions League before that and even Brighton being in the Europa League.

Sunderland know their job is to just stay up and even when the inevitable drop off comes, they are in a great position to achieve that.

Iraola is doing an incredible job at Bournemouth, especially as they had to sell pretty much their whole defence in the summer. And he plays football the right way.

I expect he'll get offered a big job soon.

BBM style in actual facts, over the season to date...

We're 2nd behind Bradford in goals per game (1.6) and 2nd behind Leyton Orient for chances created. We're way ahead of possession averaging 62% and 4th in touches in oppositions box.

When will your Bolton meltdown end? At least get your facts right.

To be fair, he's pointed out the data that's all.

Yesterday wasn't good but Bolton do well at home and the data shows we are doing well in attack but probably need to work on the finishing.

I'm just responding with facts. I bet you're a lovely fella. It's nothing personal, just debate. You're not coming back with much though.

Someone keeps pinching my food recycling bin.... that's personal. I am just responding to your constant susbstance-less bashing of a top performing team (over the season to date) after 1 stinker.

And the main topic strange teams,at the top how well Sunderland have done on a small budget and Bournemouth with a small band of supporters.
Let's hope we are the strangest of the lot this season, and get ourselves out of this division but we won' t unless Tan digs deep we need new recruits and a bigger squad.

It's also strange to see the other end of the table, Southampton in free fall near the bottom including Sheffield United norwich
