We will beat Wrexham next week

Thu Oct 23, 2025 10:01 am

Need energy and pace and we will beat them.

Watched them beat Oxford last night and I was surprised how poor they were. Their wing backs are both pretty good mind so need to watch out for that. Excited for Kpakio being tested against their left sided player.

To be fair, you get two chances in a week! :laughing6:

Have to remember that they do have a decent squad, certainly enough to beat us. The reality is they are a league above us.

They are 15th but with only six points from six home games. That doesn't surprise me, not because they have a weak squad, but because Parkinson has a track record of doing well in the lower leagues but not the Championship.

It'll be a tough game against a team who has more quality than we do. Wrexham will rightly be odds on favourites to win the game.

They’re starting to find their feet in the Championship now, after the step up to the bigger League initially found them wanting. However, a lot will depend on the teams put out on the night, and we have proven we have the players to perform against Championship sides who don’t pay us enough respect with their own selections

It will be an interesting clash, and I see both clubs putting out a decent XI, if for no other reasons that it’s two Welsh clubs, and the Gogs will want to ‘get one over’ on their capital city rivals! :ayatollah:

Wrexham have a trip up to Middlesborough Saturday us Tuesday then a big game home to top of the league Coventry on the Friday night so could see them resting a few key players against us

With home advantage Wrexham are favourites. Moore always scores against us but I think it will be a real cup tie and go there quietly confident.

They’ll do so at their peril!!

Don't forget that the UK clocks go back this weekend so if you're still in AZ it will be a different time difference to Saturdays game.

The ceiling of some of our players is really high.

They have a fair few older players.

Their left sided player didn’t play and the right sided guy who came on late was really good against Oxford.

Cardiff did what Oxford didn’t have the players or ability to do.

I think Salech was great last night. Kellyman and Ashford too. In fact 1-11 we played great and the subs added as well.

Called it maccydee!

I work with a season ticket holder from Wrexham...

- "We weren't confident going into this as we knew you lot were on fire"
- "Rubin Colwill is the best player we've seen here this season - what a player"
- "Your back 4 are quality"
- "We got out-played and don't really know what happened"
- "Salech's movement is quality"

Imagine our rivals being more complimentary than (some of) our own fans.

I think we need to get behind Rubin and force him into a a fans fave/cult figure. He clearly has the ability, its been demonstrated enough this season. He's on of our own. Seems to take pelters from our own, but admirers from Aston Villa, Burnley and a club that hate us.

Agreed. We are generally a pessimistic and negative fan base. I think we underestimate the negative effect this can have and the positive effect us all pulling together can have.

I can fully understand why we're more pessimistic and optimistic as we've had a good 5 years of hurt.

I'm hoping this win is a catalyst to kick on. Not just a great away win, but the performance.

Last night Colwill showed what he can do. His first touch is premier league class. He takes it and moves into position so quickly. I haven’t seen a CM player at Cardiff do that since Ramsey. Maybe Bellamy as well albeit as a winger.

Wrexham fans are being very complimentary about us on their message board.

I agree and have said for years his 'half turn' is class. It breaks the lines so well.

He's suffered in the league recently as Bolton and Reading doubled up on him. The issue there was (usually) Turnbull didn't spot it and exploit it. I also don't think we have a clear replacement for him if he's getting double marked out of the game or his touch and timing isn't on.

As maccydee has said for years, our fans are very fickle.

So many still moan even though we were top of the league for a while, we’re in the top 3 and have generally been playing great football.

Yes, it’s fallen off a bit recently but the squad is very young so we must be patient in my opinion.

Some think we should play like we did last night every game, win every game, never make a mistake, etc, etc.

I’ve always been a big Rubin Colwill supporter as his skill could be seen years ago it’s just taken him a little while to get there.

If he finds a consistency and runs the game like he did last night some bigger teams will be in for him. They’re already aware of him of course.

My worry is them stealing our manager and some of our players.
