Team for Bolton?

Mon Oct 20, 2025 6:21 pm

A bit early for this thread but it's such a tough game.

I think Lawlor is brilliant, his ball playing skills are outstanding. But I'd be tempted to start Fish and Chambers.

Fish is great at defending and Chambers doesn't deserve to be dropped after Saturday, he was crucial to us getting the win.

I would also start Ashford on the left. The reason for this is that when he starts, he normally helps out his full back defensively. Willock doesn't do that.

We have to be especially careful with Cozier-Duberry, who is Bolton's right winger, Bagan will need the help. May be overthinking it but that's what I think.

I thought Kellyman did well on Saturday, a bit fortunate with his goal by showed ability to run at defenders.

Would also bring Wintle back in.

So I would go with:

Trott
Kpakio Fish Chambers Bagan
Wintle Colwill Colwill
Kellyman Salech Ashford

4-2-3-1 as we’re away against a formidable opponent
Wintle & Turnbull in front of back 4 allowing Full backs to push on
Colwill to run his bollax off

I am happy to go along with this selection, although I think Lawlor is the stronger option.
As I am travelling to this game, I want to see City play well and battle.
I pray we don’t pick Robinson as a starter or it will be 10 v 11 as he is soooo lazy and doesn’t press effectively and almost never puts in a decent challenge.

Hope you enjoy the game.

Like I said, may be overthinking things but I am worried about the attacking quality that Bolton have.

I get your point about runners but can't really see a case for starting Osho.

Think he needs to sit this one out, based on his recent mistakes.

Bolton are quick down both flanks so kapakio and bagan will need to be on there game to keep up

Where I think we can get at Bolton is in midfield, they have sheehan as there 6 and he's not very mobile so if we press like we did at Burnley away I feel we can take control of the midfield

We need to move the ball a lot quicker than we did Saturday if we are to get anything out of this game

Re: Team for Bolton?

Trott

Something I'd like to try though:

442

Trott
Kpakio Chambers Fish Bagan
Kellyman Colwill Robertson Davies
Salech Ashford

I don't think he will change shape but I'd go 3-5-2. It would also be a shock for Bolton and BBM would have a full week to work on it:

Gk Trott
RCB NG CB Fish LCB Lawlor

RWB Kaprio LWB Bagan

CM Wintle CM Colwill
10 Cowill

CF Robinson CF Salech

On paper that team has goals and looks very solid defensively. :bluescarf:

That’s a good selection we need play with 3 a the back

Could be anything starting with tinkerman even if we won the last 3 in a row it's hard to put a starting 11 out who have played the last game or games irrelevant of results but I'd leave osho back in Cardiff and wintle definitely come in for Turnbull the midfield was all over the place with space Vs reading it was nearing embarrassing at times with nobody around there packed middle. Whats worse is we didn't change it to suit there midfield dominating it. It's all about the points either way.

Agee, Absolutely not a game to give Osho confidence. He will targeted and pressured into a ridiculous back pass, and cost us the game. Start him in the Cup games. :bluescarf:

Looks pretty good, but I'd stick with Willock, which was my team last game, I think.

Let them worry about us.

Trott

Kpakio
Fish
Lawlor
Bagan

Wintle
Chambers
J.Colwill

Kellyman
Salech
Ashford

This game will be a battle and we need a solid team with legs to battle away and match them. When the game opens up, Rubin and Robinson can come on. I don't trust Willock at all for this game, so I would want Davies to replace Kellyman, who won't last the game. Any other subs will depend how the game goes.

Guaranteed we will make Sheehan look like Figo if Wintle and Turnbull are on the pitch together :bluebird:

Fair enough. Other than 2 absolute clangers, Ive seen some good defending. The longer he's outcast, the moee damage.

I would definitely go with this team. Defence that started season so well, stability in midfield and goals up top. Not sure if Robinson and Salech will work but definitely worth a go.

If Lawlor is fit, I may go with that bar Colwill for Wintle. I'd try Chambers as the protection for the defence.

Kpakio

Lawlor
Bagan

R Colwill
Chambers
J.Colwill

Kellyman

As I've said, Cozier-Duberry is their real danger man. Going to be tough to stop him.

Agreed. I've seen him a few times so far this season and he's stand-out. We need to do a job on him.
