Rival manager's dig at Cardiff City star sends fans into hysterics

"The chances we created, we made their 'keeper look really good, when he wasn't.”

By Glen Williams

The Win would not have been possible were it not for the heroics of Nathan Trott, who again produced a superb display between the sticks with eight saves, as well as an excellent Will Fish goal-line clearance.

When asked how the Royals managed to lose the game, Hunt said: "I don't know. I don't know. I thought we played so well, barring probably 10-15 minute spell in the second half.

"We were the better team by far, and they are top of the league. We have to do this week in, week out now. We have got to put in a performance and create those chances every week. We've got to be ruthless in both boxes.

"The chances we created, we made their 'keeper look really good, when he wasn't.

"We are just disappointed we didn't come home with any points from the game."

He added: "It was a great strike (by Lewis Wing), but we had 18 other shots inside the box today and four one-on-ones."

Hunt did admit that Trott made a "great save" from a Paddy Lane shot in the first half, however Cardiff fans were quick to leap to the Bermudian's defence in the comments section on social media.

"Trott is by the far the best keeper in the league," said Gwydion Brown, citing that Trott has the most clean sheets out of anyone else in League One, with six.

Along with three laughing emojis, Hazza said: "How deluded do you have to be to say something like that after he's saved a shot from practically your entire starting 11!"

Cardiff fan Jamie Pryor posted five laughing emojis as he said: "You won’t play against a better keeper all season!"

Matt said: "Agreed with every word of that till his comments on Trott. Quite literally the best keeper in the league by a mile."

City fan Ross Munro said: "I get there’s a frustrated manger but all pointers are that Trott is probably the best keeper in the league. Cardiff were woeful for large parts, but were far more clinical. God knows how Reading didn’t score in the last 20 mins

He just sounds bitter.

Having a dig at Trott just makes his points irrelevant. Take the Trott dig away and he may have a point about some of the other stuff.

To be fair Reading should have battered us. Reason they didn't Nathan Trott. Best keeper I've seen in 40years watching the city. Proper athlete.

If our keeper isn’t good theirs must be absolutely awful. .

I be would have been raging if I was the reading manager after that result also they had enough chances to score double figures but that's football we scored more just like when we have battered teams goals and lost playing 100 times better than Saturday. Such is the game. :bluescarf:

It's just a weird comment to make.

If he admitted Trott played well (which he did) then it ties in with his other comments.

His other comments about Reading being better and deserving to win were right, but this just takes away from that.

Bizarre.

By "hysterics" I presume the writer means " hysterical laughing" because that's the funniest (& weirdest) comment I've heard in a while.

More concerned that they had the freedom for 26 shots many from outside 18 yard box, we made them look like Barca most of the game and Savage looked good when is actually pretty shite 90% of the time.

Any team could have a pile of shots from outside the box if they choose to though.
