Ashford

Felt a bit sorry for him today.

Came on as a late sub and then not long afterwards was taken off for the tactical reason of bringing Ng on as an extra defender.

He had to be consoled by some of the coaching staff it looked like from Canton.

Yeah it's not nice for a player in that situation. It had to be him or Davies and Davies was the better player.

I agree mate.
BBM did explain in his interview that they piled everything into attack and once they got the 2 goals it left them too open and he had to do something. He said that he doesn’t like doing things like that but he explained to Ashford afterwards and there was no problem.

Strong management from my end. We were very open at the time. NG plugged the hole. No issue at all with it.

Agree. Horrible getting taken back off after coming on but it was the right choice and hopefully he doesn't hold onto it too long being youngster

I said in other posts that i believe BBM game management is a bit too modern for me, i don't understand most of it, but we won!
His very public comforting him when he got to the bench told me it was on him, not Ashford.

Our academy kids are guilty of holding onto the ball a bit too long, but their decision-making will improve with experience.

H/t Fish for Osho was the correct decsion

49 mins we score 1-1
64' Substitution, Cardiff City. Callum Robinson replaces Joel Colwill. Isaak Davies replaces Omari Kellyman.

This is a change of tactics, we are going for it, 4 attacking players on the pitch, Salech, Robinson, Willock & Davoes. Rubin and Turnbull are the sheild.

65 we score, 2-1 that man is a genius :old:

70 3 subs from Reading they change tactics and throw the kitchen sink at us. Shit or bust, usual away losing tactics
74 reading sub

79 Substitution Ashford for Willock, like for like, so still 4 forwards on the pitch whilst Reading are throwing the kitchen sink at us, should be 2-2

86 reading sub

90 mins Ashord sub, for Perry NG

We won, so i am talking out my arse, but that wasn't BBM's greatest last 15 mins

I didn't feel it was anything more than tactical. We were 2-1 up with a few minutes left, you bring on a defender for an attacker. Bit unfortunate maybe for Ashford but no reflection on him

I think it was the right decision, and Ashford for me played poorly for the time he was on - getting caught in possession, giving Reading more attacking opportunities. That said he was only doing what the rest fo the team had been doing all game mind.

At that time of that game, we needed a much stronger attitude than Ashford is able to give - again he isn't the only one.

Whether it is ever learnt I don't think it will be - it is an attitude of the mind that does not appear to be present in a few of our players.

Final whistle was relief - we gave Reading so many opportunities, we kept on letting them shoot and cross as if we were on a bribe.

Anyhow - how we are top of the league with a sieve for a team defence I do not know - Keeper is magnificent, I thought Chambers was great in defence and also Billy Fish.

Luckily we are playing against League 1 attackers, evidently the quality on finishing is poorer than Championship.
