CHRIS WILLOCK:

Following the international break, Chris shared his thoughts on this weekend’s upcoming fixture against the Royals, as well as the season so far under Brian Barry-Murphy.

“I’m looking forward to the game, it should be a good one,” he began. “Hopefully we can get the win.

“I’ve enjoyed my time under Brian so far, I think he sees the game how I want to play, so it’s easy to play under him. He demands a lot and that’s good from any manager in order to get the best out of the players.

“I would say that no league is easy. It’s a hard league with quality in it, and any game is difficult. It’s been tough, but we’ve dealt with it well and I think that there’s more to come from us.

“We’ve had set-backs along the way and some really good performances, but I’m looking forward to carrying on with the next fixtures and hopefully we can keep going and winning.

“Brian wants to see a fluid, aggressive team. We’ve been working on that and showing it in patches, but I think that we need to show it more, and hopefully on Saturday you’ll see it more.

“There’s good morale around the Club, the stadium is buzzing and it’s good to get that winning feeling again and I’ve really enjoyed the season so far. The fans have been amazing, the support has been unreal.”

With a renewed focus on youth within the City squad this season, Chris discussed his burgeoning role within the dressing room as he takes up responsibility as a mentor for some of his younger teammates.

“For me it’s about showing the fans what I can do and giving my all. I know what I’m capable of, so hopefully that keeps going and I can keep going.

“It’s been good. It’s a young dressing room, and you can see that sometimes, especially in the games when you have young players still learning, but it’s good to have responsibility around the place and to encourage them.

"There are different ways of leading; sometimes people are more vocal and other times it’s pulling a young player to the side and encouraging them, which is needed sometimes.”

He concluded: “I speak to Tan [Nyakuhwa] a lot, I think he’s a really good player. He’s played a couple of games now and I’m looking forward to seeing more, he’s one of the ones who is going to really push on at this Club. When a player plays your position it’s a lot easier, and he’s a boy who wants to learn a lot and I’m sure we’ll see a lot more from him.”

Willock was poor last season.

But I've been really impressed with him this season.

He's looking dangerous going forward and works for the team.

Seems to be linking up well with Rubin at times.

We know he's capable because there was a time where he was unplayable at QPR so it's good to see him delivering again.

I 100% agree with you Ned,

He’s really improved under BBM this season.

He's always been a good player. He looks way more suited to the set up now and more importantly looks up for the games when he's on.

He still doesn't do enough off the ball defensive work. The Bradford game, he failed to track back and that allowed Bradford to win the corner for their first goal. Tanner would have sprinted back to stop Bradford advancing up the pitch.

At this level, Willock should be getting goals and assists. He is chipping in, but I was expecting far more and what he's producing with goals and assists isn't anywhere near enough to make up for his lack of off the ball work.

Losing Tanner was a massive blow and I think we need to bring in an improvement to Willock in January. Davies isn't consistently good enough either. Perhaps we should switch to 3-5-2, as we are struggling with our wingers.

Spot on, we haven't got a winger who can consistently get a good ball into the box or even beat a man. Salech will score goals with balls he can run onto with his head.

Except the three he missed against Burton.

I do think he should have put one of those chances away especially the one which was crossed from the byline. Keeper made a decent save but Salech could have placed it better. He did score what should have been a legitimate goal in that game. Best striker we got and should start Saturday imo.

There is so much positive stuff to say about BBM but I think perhaps one that has really impressed me that I actually didn't expect is how he is getting the older heads in the side fighting for their place in the team but actually seeming to be enjoying doing so. Willock and Robinson are playing with smiles on their faces and seem to be really getting a fresh lease of life. I honestly thought they would be picking up a salary half arsed or hoping for a move away. They both seem really pleased to be part of BBMs revolution.

This is true.

He spoke about Robinson, Chambers and Willock in the press conference today and now they're really working hard.

The players seem to really embrace this manager.
