BBM:

"Ollie Tanner is having his boot removed this week, then he will start to become active. We said January all along, but the progress he is making is really good and he’s on track for that. If he comes back before then, it would be a huge boost for us all."

City head into the contest after a 4-3 win over Leyton Orient in our last league test.

"There’s a lot of key takeaways from the Leyton Orient game for me," Brian began. "I thought you saw signs of what we look like when we’re at our best, predominantly in the second half when we were really aggressive and played the game in a very intense, attacking manner. “

"Rubin would previously have been viewed as a young player but in this dressing room, he's not viewed as that because of how he acts and how he trains day to day.

His impact on our season has been huge. If you look at his numbers, they're through the roof. That comes from his consistency in training.”

“He's been brilliant.“

BRIAN BARRY-MURPHY:

"Our only worry for Saturday is Dylan Lawlor, with the Wales U21s players coming back today and Robertson tomorrow.

Dylan wasn't available for Monday because of slight groin issue. He's had it previously with us if you remember.

He's not clear of that yet, hopefully he'll take part in training today.

He seems to be growing and developing a lot physically so I wouldn't be surprised if he has a few niggles over the course of the season as he adjusts to the schedule that he's now being asked to do.

He may be available for Saturday but I'm not sure yet. We will obviously push him to hopefully he in contention to play because he's such an important

He's been brilliant.

In my first press conference, someone asked "what are you going to do with Rubin" and I didn't quite answer it because of what I perceived him to be.

But he's set the standard in training every single day.

If he does turn that into goals and assists then you'll see his stats in terms of those really reflect his performance.

That will see him become a real asset to the club and his country as we work through the season."

BRIAN BARRY-MURPHY-

“When we played Orient”

"I don’t want to use the phrase ‘at our worst’ but when looked most vulnerable was in the first half when we were quite tentative and we didn’t play the game in the manner that we wanted.

"You saw one of the key phrases Craig [Bellamy] was using in the lead up to the game was about intensity for the Welsh team on Monday and that resonated a lot with me because to play the way that we want to do in this stadium in front of our supporters, the game has to be played in a manner that is supremely intense and supremely aggressive to show us in our best light.

"If we don’t reach those heights, then we’re not the team we want to be. The last two weeks has been a key part of reminding the players of what they’ve achieved in the early part of the season, and more importantly, how they’ve achieved it with their levels of intensity and how they’ve played the game in such an aggressive manner."

Alex Robertson

BBM:

"Alex will be our last player back from internationals, he's flying back as we speak. So we'll check on him tomorrow."

Was it worth him travelling 10,000 miles to not play?

"I think Alex is keen to be at the forefront of the Australia manager's mind so I think it's fine, he'd want to get in front of him and show him what he can do.

From tomorrow he can build on whatever he's done in the past two weeks and push the season forward."

Could he play for the U21s for you or is it first team or nothing?

"I wouldn't say nothing. Our focus is getting Alex into a position where he can compete for the squad and play in the team.

He doesn't need to play for the U21s."

The Royals, whose head coach is former Republic of Ireland striker Noel Hunt, currently sit 21st in the table, but are unbeaten in their last four games, with their last three league fixtures all ending in 1-1 draws.

Brian Barry-Murphy : “I would have known Noel from an early age and he’s from close to where I’m from in Ireland so you always watch out for each other. There’s more and more Irish head coaches coming to this country, which is great for us.

"They’re a very big club in this division. I went to their game against Exeter City to watch it in person just to get a feel of the qualities they have.

"When we’re so busy and watching games on video, sometimes you can see different things, but you don’t quite get a feel of the quality of certain players and the intricacies of their play.

"I went to that game and you can see that their squad is full of players who have quality and have played at a higher level.

"They’re not where they’d want to be in the table currently, but being there gave me an insight into the talent they possess and what we’ll have to do to overcome it."

“Dylan [Lawlor] wasn’t available for Wales’ game against Belgium on Monday, based on a slight groin issue. He’s had it previously with us in recent weeks, so he’s not clear of that yet.

“We haven’t seen him train since, but hopefully he will partake in training this afternoon. At the moment, he is a doubt [for Saturday] based on the fact that we haven’t seen him train since he’s been away with Wales.

“He’s a very young player and he seems to be growing and developing physically. You will see him carrying niggles as he adjusts to the schedule he is being asked to partake in.

“He’s got a chance to play on Saturday. We hope he can be involved in training today and be available, but I’m not sure at this stage. Over the last few weeks, he has had niggles in his groin and during his time in the Academy, had injury history with his hamstring.

"Now he seems to be growing physically and his schedule is more demanding than ever, so there may be weeks where we have to manage him. We’re pushing him because we want him to be available; he’s such an important player.”

CHRIS WILLOCK:

Following the international break, Chris shared his thoughts on this weekend’s upcoming fixture against the Royals, as well as the season so far under Brian Barry-Murphy.

“I’m looking forward to the game, it should be a good one,” he began. “Hopefully we can get the win.

“I’ve enjoyed my time under Brian so far, I think he sees the game how I want to play, so it’s easy to play under him. He demands a lot and that’s good from any manager in order to get the best out of the players.

“I would say that no league is easy. It’s a hard league with quality in it, and any game is difficult. It’s been tough, but we’ve dealt with it well and I think that there’s more to come from us.

“We’ve had set-backs along the way and some really good performances, but I’m looking forward to carrying on with the next fixtures and hopefully we can keep going and winning.

“Brian wants to see a fluid, aggressive team. We’ve been working on that and showing it in patches, but I think that we need to show it more, and hopefully on Saturday you’ll see it more.

“There’s good morale around the Club, the stadium is buzzing and it’s good to get that winning feeling again and I’ve really enjoyed the season so far. The fans have been amazing, the support has been unreal.”

With a renewed focus on youth within the City squad this season, Chris discussed his burgeoning role within the dressing room as he takes up responsibility as a mentor for some of his younger teammates.

“For me it’s about showing the fans what I can do and giving my all. I know what I’m capable of, so hopefully that keeps going and I can keep going.

“It’s been good. It’s a young dressing room, and you can see that sometimes, especially in the games when you have young players still learning, but it’s good to have responsibility around the place and to encourage them.

"There are different ways of leading; sometimes people are more vocal and other times it’s pulling a young player to the side and encouraging them, which is needed sometimes.”

He concluded: “I speak to Tan [Nyakuhwa] a lot, I think he’s a really good player. He’s played a couple of games now and I’m looking forward to seeing more, he’s one of the ones who is going to really push on at this Club. When a player plays your position it’s a lot easier, and he’s a boy who wants to learn a lot and I’m sure we’ll see a lot more from him.”
