If I recall correctly, they mistook YJB for YBB and had to apologise later; but only after struggling Reading’s hierarchy, and the media made a meal of it!

Chris, I remember we were on tv once and the commentators said that ‘there’s some unacceptable chanting coming from the Cardiff section of the ground’. They were singing YJB!

I agree but it’s a coincidence that it’s happened again involving 2 clubs where it was incorrect & exaggerated before.

Maybe the club have been warned by the authorities to put an end to it if they have an element that is causing problems before the authorities take control. It’s only 2 clubs out of the 92 so it must be quite extreme as most football chants would cause stoppages. As mentioned ours songs we regularly sing about paedophilia and beastiality don’t seem to be bothering anyone so the Exeter ones must be quite extreme.
Maybe the system is working and doing what they doing now is preventing future chaos on match day.
As a side note I occasionally take my 10Yo daughter to a match when she up for it and sometime a couple of friends when the fathers song is song she is mortified, and had a parent call me asking why they daughter repeated that song to her brother. It can have effects beyond what is meant to be banter.

I couldnt give a damn what we are called, but objectively I cant think of anything currently chanted at a football match more abusive than being called a sheep shagger because you are Welsh. And yet this chant is constantly allowed everywhere we play. Unbelievable double standards by the woke brigade and their obedient servants who run football these days.

You think being called a sheep shagger is worse than racial abuse or being called a paedo?

If your not a paedo it's ridiculous to call someone, but racial depends on who is on the recieving end of it,
been called a sheep sh.gger can be very offensive if you take it to heart, a or a welsh fanatic especially as its usually coming from and an englishman, who know full well it's meant to antagonise and be offensive.
We as welsh and Scots irish take no offence even though it's the english that have made up the names taffy, paddy, jock, but some do take offence such as the abbreviation of Pakistan
So in conclusion I would say it's wether the people on the receiving end take offence at sheep sh.ggers which could be categorized as
racist towards welsh people.

People can take offence at being called sheep shagger because they are welsh is their right. How ever it is not racist and I imagine that it is insulting to people who have and currently suffer from racism.
Xenophobic yes, but racist definitely not. Wales isn’t a race.

I think you'll find that the law classes "sheep shagger" as both racist and actually illegal. Here we go:
1. Legal perspective (UK)
Under the Equality Act 2010, “race” includes ethnic or national origins, which means Welsh people are protected against harassment or discrimination on that basis.
So if someone uses the term “sheep shagger” toward a Welsh person in a derogatory or hostile way, it can legally count as:
Racial harassment (if it creates a humiliating or offensive environment), or
Racially aggravated abuse (under the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 or Public Order Act 1986).
In fact, UK police and courts have previously treated anti-Welsh slurs (like “sheep shagger” or “Taffy”) as racially aggravated because they target an ethnic/national group.
2. Social and moral perspective
Even outside a legal setting, the term is widely considered offensive, xenophobic, and prejudiced. It relies on a national stereotype (the rural Welsh and sheep farming) and is used to mock or demean Welsh identity — similar in nature to ethnic slurs directed at other groups.
3. Context matters — but caution always applies
If it’s said jokingly among friends who are Welsh themselves and consent to the humor, it might not be harassment.
But if said to or about a Welsh person in anger, mockery, or public commentary, it’s likely to be seen as racist or xenophobic abuse.
In summary: Calling a Welsh person a “sheep shagger” is widely considered a racist or xenophobic slur, and can be prosecuted as such if used abusively or threateningly.

Well I never being Welsh is now a race.
So great work on A.I there grange keeping us on inline. Won’t be worth having a forum soon just put everything into A.I.
So to sum up. Everyone gets offended by something some are called woke when they do some aren’t. Somewhere along the lines someone been so offended that the law changed to allow things that aren’t race related. I.e being Welsh to loosely be classed as racial harassment. I’ve lost track.
Can we have Trump to sort us lot out when he finished elsewhere please.
