Kion Etete who had been injury prone for the last two years, Yet was given another New Contract 2 years.

Failed as a Striker for Cardiff City and clubs he has been sent out on loan to:

Latest Club out on loan Rotherham

Cardiff City star Kion Etete has suffered a "serious" injury in Rotherham United training, leaving his manager "devastated".

Groin and knee issues have already plagued his time with his temporary club and his boss Matt Hamshaw has revealed he is set to a prolonged period on the sidelines after an incident in training.

“We've monitored his comeback really closely – given him two 45 minutes,” Hamshaw said after the Millers' first away win of the season at Northampton Town on Saturday. “He got a serious injury, we think, on Thursday, which is devastating for everybody, Kion included, obviously.

“It was absolutely nothing in training. We've been careful in managing and monitoring his workload.”

The 23-year-old has made nine appearances for the club so far but he won't be adding to that tally any time soon, judging by Hamshaw's comments.

“Not at this moment, no,” said Hamshaw when asked if he could put a timescale on the injury.

“Look, he's had a few injuries in the past, he's also had injuries here. I'm sure that all will be revealed the next time I speak to you (the media). It looks like it's a serious one.”

I feel for the guy; he’s had a torrid time with injuries and it’s ruining a promising career

I just hope he gets through it all and gets his playing career going, as I’ve always maintained there’s a good player in him! :ayatollah:

I do feel for him personally yes Chris,

But why the hell would we give him a New 2 yr contract?

In his last 63 appearances as a Striker in Championship/ League 1 football 63 appearances / 6 goals

And before we signed him 35 appearances/ 6 goals in league 2

Yet Glen Williams and the Hierarchy made out we had signed a Premiership player / yet Never played there and then end of last season they give him a new 2 yr contract, yet we are suppose to be Skint??

Merthyr would be perfect for him that league

Annis, I think that in any league he just needs to be injury free. Unlike a certain Mr Tomlin it seems that whereas not as talented, he clearly wants to get fit and it must be so frustrating.

Who was the black guy warnock brought in i seem to remember he played a part game scored and that was him done for about 15 months with some form of injury or relapse,
some players just have bodies that are not geared to some more physical sports,
try darts instead, and careful of the oche.

Nicky Maynard? Decent goal scorer until we got our hands on him, ruptured his knee or something very early after signing for us if I remember correctly. Never the same after that.

Think that was the Malky years though

Imagine any other line of work giving a new 2 year contract to a brick layer with no arms because he layed 3 bricks once. Baffled me. If he was fit and ready every week he's crap tbh.

I’m with you on the extended contract situation. I was shocked too, but I blame the club not the player :ayatollah:

How would you know? He's injured 95% of the time so it would be hard to tell.

I feel a bit sorry for him at this point, it's not his fault that he picks up a lot of injuries.

I don't think he'll make it in the Championship but he could still go on to do alright in this league or the one below. Strikers peak at a later age to other positions.

I understood the contract extension at the time because of the risk of losing him for nothing, but in hindsight it was a bad decision as many on here said at the time.

He'll be gone at the end of the season and, for his sake, I hope he can rebuild his career.
