Cardiff City’s new training ground

Sat Oct 11, 2025 12:15 pm

It just came up on my Facebook Glen Williams talking about how the proposed new City training ground has once again stopped and all work has not progressed for over eleven years after year after year promises.
Over a year ago Ken Choo and Steve Borley stood there with a shovel and a digger ( September 2024) saying it was starting then, ten years later, but nothing again happened?

Then this September it’s announced its not going ahead, followed by in October Glen Williams saying “Due to cash flow problems their will be no training ground next year.”

Can anyone give more detail on all this please?

More false lies from the club but some will say it's because the club are in div 1 but we all know it's a cashflow problem hence the transfer window of players out and in but 11 years of its being done is mental

The excuse by the club is that wouldn't pay for it to be done after relegation so they paused construction.

We were not Ian in Div 3 / League 1 , 11 years ago and when they said last season it was all going ahead diggers shown etc we were in the Championship at the beginning of the season?

I’m surprised at Williams going for the Hierarchy not like him, especially as Willian’s keeps putting out they have long terms plans planned for our club?

That’s part of what i am asking as it does not seem to be ever happening? If they’re us no money now,how will will it change as it’s not happened for eleven years?

The eleven years is missing the objections to the scheme everytime hhrres and objection yo planning there's a delay of considerable time and how many have there been 6 or 7 or more? Was one last year over lighting! Si delay of many years is not unusual for a project especially when get professional objectors objecting every time planning is put forward...... stopping it because of relegation seems a logical step in any buisness when you know going to lose millions of ££££££s
....all can say if this doesn't go ahead new buyers will have very large piece of land to pay for as well as the club... will it go ahead god knows.

Might as well make some use of the land and plant some spuds.
