MY VIEW. BBM TODAY MADE 5 CHANGES AND CITY LOOKED DREADFUL A

Sat Oct 04, 2025 3:55 pm

MY VIEW. BBM TODAY MADE 5 CHANGES AND CITY LOOKED DREADFUL AT TIMES / BUT THANKFULLY TO ROBINSON / SALECH AND LAWLOR WE GRABBED THE WIN / BUT IN ALL HONESTY ORIENT FOR THE MAJORITY OF THE GAME WERE THE BETTER SIDE:

So glad we have Won this game just before another International break( they don’t help us).

What has happened to our lovely football ? BBM making Big changes and we will suffer in my view if he continues doing this.

Even in the dying minutes Orient looked a massive threat.

Man of the Match Nathan Trott 100%

Orient 26 Shots / City Shots 16

For the neutral this was a cracking game but for us a bag of nerves.

Cardiff had lost 2 consecutive home games and desperately needed a home win.

Orient were 17th in the league and had only won 1 of their previous 6 league games.

City had only collected 4pts from their previous 12pts

Orient worst defence in this Division.

Orient had come here to win the game and for the majority of it were the better team.

FIRST-HALF: Orient were the better team
Shots: Orient 12 Cardiff 7

Orient 53% Possession.

First 20 mins Orient were the better side and Trott had to make an excellent save.

Against the run of play:

GOAL! Cardiff City 1-0 Leyton Orient (Robinson 20)
Goal. Robinson scores!
Chris Willock hooks a ball into the forward and he still has a lot to do, under pressure from two defenders. But he takes it expertly into his stride and produces a fine finish to slot past the onrushing Tommy Simkin.

GOAL! Cardiff City 1-1 Leyton Orient (Connolly 29)
Goal! A disaster for Gabriel Osho who passed it back and Connolly scored, Orient deserved the equaliser.

35min Orient gave the ball away and Willock had the goal infront of him and totally missed.

Cardiff struggled and Orient created more.

SECOND-HALF:

Orient make Trott make a superb save then mins later hit the post.

First attack by Cardiff GOAL! Cardiff City 2-1 Leyton Orient (Lawlor 52)

Gooooal! Wondergoal from Dylan Lawlor!

GOAL! Cardiff City 2-2 Leyton Orient (El Mizouni 54)
Orient hit back! Idris El Mizouni hits it from the edge of the area and it takes two deflections, the last of which is off Joel Colwill and it nestles into the bottom corner.

59mins Nathan Trott with another wonderful save.

GOAL! Cardiff City 2-3 Leyton Orient (Ballard 62)
Dom Ballard with a stunner! Curled into the top corner from 20 yards.

58MIN: TRIPLE SUB
Isaak Davies off, Omari Kellyman on.
Joel Colwill off, Yousef Salech on.
Ryan Wintle off, David Turnbull on.

GOAL! Cardiff City 3-3 Leyton Orient (Salech 69)
A quick throw-in from Cardiff releases Rubin Colwill down the right. He puts in a fantastic cross, right on Yousef Salech's head, and he buries it. Top header.

GOAL! Cardiff City 4-3 Leyton Orient (Robinson 71)
Ronan Kpakio is slid in this time, down the right once again, and he pulls back a great cross to Callum Robinson on the edge of the box, who sweeps home brilliantly. Wow.

Then another great save by Trott.

86 min: Will Fish on for Callum Robinson.

Thought we defended horribly today and I'd like to see us go back to the Lawlor fish combo that worked so well and I honestly think osho could make a decent number 6

All that mattered today was stopping the rot at home and thankfully we did

Biggest plus for me today is we saw a glimpse of what Kellyman could be when he's fully fit finally a winger who can beat a man with genuine pace and put a good ball into the box

We are lucky Orient have the worst defence in this Division

Incredible game and I'm elated, but in truth it's another extremely worrying performance.

We won today but our style isn't sustainable. Conceding 26 shots, 11 of those on target is appalling. Even when we were 4-3 up, the amount of chances we conceded and how open we were was beyond naive.

We're not going to go up playing like this and burying our heads in the sand when our keeper bails us out again.

Absolutely dreadful

But I agree we stopped the rot

Defensively we were poor but I wouldn't say we played dreadful.

We looked dangerous in every attack.

At the end of the day, we won the game.

We showed resilience to fight back.

That's what it's all about.

Sorry Orient looked dangerous in every attack

I have to say I don’t know how we win

But a Win is a Win

But I am
Worried

But 3pts

Rubin did nothing today

And Joel did not look good

We were lucky, Osho made loads of mistakes, he needs to get rid of the ball, messing about with it to much, R Colwill looked very tired, we need to be more solid in the middle, Turnbull held it up, I would like to see Salech and Robinson play together, overall 3 points, we go on to next game.

I have to agree

And Rubin looks not in the game

Let's just be glad we won. Can moan all we like but a win is a win, and now BBM has x2 weeks to work with the guys again. I only listened to it today, but from what I was hearing we could have easily lost - BUT we didn't.

So onwards and upwards, and, who though after 11 games in we would be 3rd - with a 4 point gap to 7th.

And to quote a line from 'Kellys Hero's' (Great film), 'don't give me those negative vibes'..

We're 3rd in the league with the best goal difference in the league so I'm not remotely worried.

Tuesday we played well but lost.

Today it was less comfortable in terms of performance but won.

People always say it's all about wins, well that's what we did today.

No it wasn't perfect but surely all that matters is three points?

People make a lot about Orient's form but the three they lost in their last five, were all by just one goal. Top of the league Stevenage only beat them 3-2.

They are not a bad team.

It's all about getting three points and by crook or by hook, that's what we got.

Couldn't get down there today sadly and missed an absolute humdinger.

It does concern me the sheer number of great chances we conceded to the opposition and had to be bailed out by our keeper and strikers (from what I listened to).

If BBM persists on messing with the back 4, we'll see more of this defensive unease, no doubt.

What was the final formation with Salech and Robinson up top? Was it my favourite 442 (which is apparently not allowed by the laptop analysts any more)!? ;-)

We were all over the place at times and made it very easy for them. But as everyone says a win is a win and fair enough.
Nice break for some of them who are not involved in Newport or internationals.
I’ll take 3rd at this time

The defending was down to the weather, we kept giving the ball away far to close to our own goal. Nobody looked comfortable on the ball at the back. BBM should have changed this it was obvious very early on

We overload midfield to make our pretty triangles at the expense of a striker. As soon as we went 442 or was it 352 we hammered them.

Whether that is because Salech actually could fight the bullying that the ref was far too lenient on, they tired, or we just played in their third rather than ours we were outstanding.

For 75 minutes, it was like Erol Bulut had kidnapped BBM, and he managed the team. Teams are not pressing like the first few games, and are staying in shape so we have little answer in our 4231. We'll be better away this season.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who is actually worried about how we are setting up and playing.

Better teams will beat us if we continue like this.

Mad game mad win but I’ll take it all day long orient deserved something out of the game even should have won the game at one point our defending wasn’t great but we never gave in when orient scored and we finished stronger in the end

Have to agree there. Both were poor.
I did say at the start of the season that we needed a hard nut in midfield who would take no prisoners and we certainly needed someone like that in the middle of the park as they were streaming straight through us.
