BBM:

“ Alex Robertson “

"We can't have a presumption of seniority or players having an elevated status based on what they've done before.“

Barry-Murphy has urged the former Manchester City player to "do more" in order to break into the side, which sits fourth in League One heading into the weekend.

"Alex is in full training and training with the rest of the players. He's building up his volume of training now, but he just has to do more to be competitive in a squad of this nature," he said.

"It just means, in the squad, the level of training, as we reference so many times, is of the highest level and we have to get to that level every single individual player.”

"So if you look at the squad on Tuesday night, Dak Mafico wasn't in the squad, Tanatswa (Nyakuhwa) was, Isaak wasn't based on what he's done.

"So before we can judge players on ability, you have to reach a certain level of intensity where it's a level playing field.

"We can't have a presumption of seniority or players having an elevated status based on what they've done before.“

"All the players should be treated equally all the time and that can change any course of the season based on any circumstances."

BBC:

Once again, midfielder Alex Robertson was left out of the squad to face Burton.

Having featured regularly as the Bluebirds were relegated from the Championship last season, Robertson missed the start of this campaign with a leg injury he sustained during pre-season.

But despite being available for selection for Cardiff's past four matches, the Australia international has been left out of the squad on each occasion.

Strong words and a detailed answer.

Robertson is clearly not putting the work in that's required to play for this manager.

I like the comment about nobody getting in the team based on the past.

Agreed on that:

But it shows their was or still is a problem with them
Both Ned.

As to saying about last season,I agree and when some here say Orient were quite good last season that does not mean this season as in the Summer they could of strengthened or lost players etc

Interesting about the intensity in training as that is clearly having an effect with the intensity shown on match days.

Recently I was talking to a big EFL fan who watches games all the time, and he said he’s watched city twice this season and he cannot believe the difference in the fitness levels of our team compared to the others in the league, he described it as the difference between a championship squad and a League One (3) squad.

Of which I agreed and then we went on as to how city have been mis managed the last 3 or 4 seasons, but that a whole other story.

Apparently, common knowledge within the club he wants away. Probably going in January window.

He's not going anywhere in January unless it suits BBM, on top of his game Robertson is worth about £5 mill, at this moment no team will pay anywhere near that, christ, he hasn't even started a league game yet.

I heard the smae thing from someone who would now.

I was very surprised he didn't go in the last transfer window.

Don't think we'll get what we value him at though so he's better off knuckling down

Just someone at the club. We catch up now again for a beer. Said he wants away.
My comment re January. Not theirs.

Time for Robertson to knuckle down and show what he can do if he wants to get into BBM team ASAP

Agree with this. I'm a big fan of Robertson but he clearly needs to do more in training.

I don't buy the arguments that he wants out. BBM gives detailed answers when asked about him. Not the same with Alnwick, where he doesn't get into discussions about why Alnwick isn't playing.

I like Robertson too. And hope he stays. But from what was said I don’t think he will.

I suppose none of us really know what goes on behind closed doors between players and managers.

Part of me thinks Robertson is likely just another jumped up lazy overpaid footballer with a massive ego (and if he doesnt want to be here, don't let him wear the blue of Cardiff City again). However, it could be that BBM just clashes with him. Maybe Robertson is a good guy and a good professional and BBM is at fault here. Perhaps they've had words in the past and BBM can't overlook it and forgive.

Either way I'm massively disappointed with how things have turned out for Robertson here. I really thought, when we signed him and we seen him play for the first time, we'd found an absolute gem of a player. A midfield general, something we've been crying out for for so long. Our very own Barry Bannan or Tom Cairney.

But it's come to nothing. 10 games in and he's not even made the squad let alone an appearance. It's just so disappointing. I partly hope that BBM is at fault...coz it's so bad and so poor if the player is just sulking. All his team mates are happy, working hard and knuckling down. What makes him think he's so superior to them all.

He was our highest rated player last season.

Was brilliant for Pompey in this league when they got promoted.

Just been called up to the Australian squad again, Peru also wanted him.

All that suggests he's not overrated.

I can think of one game where he may have been MoM on here.

If he is worth £5 mill the Joel C is double that.
There isn't one thing I can see that Robertson does better than WIntle
And he is not a 10
