:bluebird: :bluebird: “ TODAY BRIAN BARRY-MURPHY WILL UPDATE CARDIFF CITY FANS “ :bluebird: :bluebird:

Thursday 2nd October 2025

BBM’S City team will play Orient at home this Saturday who are 17th in Div3 and with only 1 win from their last 6 games.
City are also going through a bit of a tough time, 2 successive home defeats and only 4pts from their last 12pts.

BBM will expect his team to bounce back with a Victory on Saturday.

Alex Robertson has trained and is fully fit to play and has been for 3 weeks.

TEAM NEWS:

Brian Barry-Murphy:

"Isaak Davies is fine.

“He will be back for Saturday.”

Gabe Osho had a bang to his knee.

We expect him to be possibly available for Saturday but not guaranteed."

ALEX ROBERTSON IS FULLY FIT AND READY TO START

NG is doubtful after picking up an injury v Burton.

Ollie Tanner is out until December at least.

Eli King out for the season.

BBM:

“Once we’ve acknowledged their strengths, it comes back to what we can do to hurt them.

"We’re looking to produce another performance that gives us the best chance to win."

BBM:

“I like the challenge of coming back here on Saturday. After the Bradford game, we went to Burnley and produced a performance of the highest level, then backed it up against Wigan.

“We’ve lost two games at home - that’s the reality - but now we have to show the fans that we can deliver a better performance than tonight.”

“ Alex Robertson “

"We can't have a presumption of seniority or players having an elevated status based on what they've done before.“

Barry-Murphy has urged the former Manchester City player to "do more" in order to break into the side, which sits fourth in League One heading into the weekend.

"Alex is in full training and training with the rest of the players. He's building up his volume of training now, but he just has to do more to be competitive in a squad of this nature," he said.

"It just means, in the squad, the level of training, as we reference so many times, is of the highest level and we have to get to that level every single individual player.”

"So if you look at the squad on Tuesday night, Dak Mafico wasn't in the squad, Tanatswa (Nyakuhwa) was, Isaak wasn't based on what he's done.

"So before we can judge players on ability, you have to reach a certain level of intensity where it's a level playing field.

"We can't have a presumption of seniority or players having an elevated status based on what they've done before.“

"All the players should be treated equally all the time and that can change any course of the season based on any circumstances."

BBM:

“We probably pre-empted what Burton were going to do against us.”

"I think there's a danger for us in trying to presume or pre-empt what the opponents are going to do.”

"We're going to face a Leyton Orient team on Saturday who have many different ways of playing, a high quality team who can be very flexible in their approach.”

"The players have to be open minded to consistently focus on improving all parts of their game and then on Saturday, I trust that we have the capacity on the tours to cope with whatever challenge we face and overcome it.

"But this is a young team. So I have to have an awareness of what's going on the past to help the players improve in the future, but I don't want to obsess about it.

"I've said in every single press conference how impressed I've been with the players' mentality to improve and that hasn't changed based on what was a difficult situation (against Burton).“

BBM:

"What you've seen this season already is so many different challenges come up within every single game.

"If you look back at the Bradford game, Bradford were really aggressive and had a go, pressed us and produced a good performance and caused us problems.

"And then Burton did what they did, and so from their point of view, they succeeded because they won the game. But for us, I just think it's important that we have an open mind and are ready for all the challenges that we face and equip the players with as many solutions as possible within reason."

Brian Barry-Murphy:

"Isaak Davies is fine.

He just played Tuesday and Saturday so consecutive games for the first time in a long, long time.

He wasn't completely comfortable that he would recover in time so I just took the decision for him that I didn't want to risk him.

But he'll be back for Saturday.

Gabe Osho had a bang to his knee.

We expect him to be possibly available for Saturday but not guaranteed."

BBM:

Right-back Perry Ng is a doubt for Cardiff City's League One game at home against Leyton Orient on Saturday.

The 29-year-old sustained a hamstring injury during Tuesday's 1-0 defeat by Burton Albion.

Ng was replaced by Wales international Ronan Kpakio, who would be the prime candidate to take his starting place against Orient.

"Perry Ng came off with a hamstring worry. He'll be assessed today. My instinct tells me he's a doubt for Saturday," said head coach Brian Barry-Murphy.
"Isaak Davies is fully fit. He'll train today. And Gabriel Osho will be assessed this afternoon.
"I can't be certain on him based on the fact that he hasn't trained this week, but hopefully trains some part this afternoon or maybe tomorrow."

BBC:

Once again, midfielder Alex Robertson was left out of the squad to face Burton.

Having featured regularly as the Bluebirds were relegated from the Championship last season, Robertson missed the start of this campaign with a leg injury he sustained during pre-season.

But despite being available for selection for Cardiff's past four matches, the Australia international has been left out of the squad on each occasion.

BBM:

"Alex is in full training and training with the rest of the players. He's building up his volume of training now, but he just has to do more to be competitive in a squad of this nature," said Barry-Murphy.

“We feel energised and ready to go again,” Brian began. “We reflected on Tuesday night and we’re trying to learn as much as possible. For us as coaching staff, it’s important to take away key points - what went well and what we could be better at.

“It’s important that we are ready for all the challenges that we will face and equip the players with solutions.”

BBM:

“Leyton Orient “

“They have many different ways of playing,” Brian continued. “I think they’re a very adaptable team and they have a clear identity. They can build-up from the back - they’re really progressive. But in certain games they can be direct and get in behind the backline with their attackers’ exceptional movement.

“Once we’ve acknowledged their strengths, it comes back to what we can do to hurt them. It’s dangerous for us to presume what our opponents are going to do.

"We’re looking to produce another performance that gives us the best chance to win.

“The players have to be open-minded and consistently focused on improving all parts of their game. On Saturday, we need to trust that we have the tools to cope with the challenge we face.”

“ Referees and Salech “

BM:

"The minute we get into talking about referees, we go away from things that we can control.

So for Yousef Salech the focus has to be on his movements which are very specific to him and exceptional.

He has to be aware of what defenders are doing to stop him. A lot of the time that's prolonged dragging and holding which is against the rules and a big thing about this season is that wouldn't happen but it is happening to him.

Our focus is for him to avoid that and get out of the space of defenders when the ball is coming to him. He did that Tuesday night and the goal was disallowed.

But we can't plan for that error from the referee. We can only work on Yousef's movement being so good, so often. And working with Chris Willock to have the right timing of the cross as it was on Tuesday night, which was perfect. And to have that with all the players so deciding when they're going to move and the timing of the pass.

My concern is if he does think he's doing something wrong and moves away from what he does best, and try and plan for something that we don't think is beneficial to him. Our focus is to have him in dangerous positions in the box where we know he's at his most capable, the same with Callum Robinson and Isaak Davies.

Then having our players find the most efficient way to serve him, that won't change over the course of the season."
