Misfiring strikers

Wed Oct 01, 2025 6:06 pm

Both salach and robbinson in my view need a kick up there ass , both are paid alot of money especially by league one standards they Need to hit the back of the net more !.some of the shots last night were tame to say the least .

For his headers not sure why he didn't put ball back from where it came from? They were easy headers and they say always put it back from where it came if did that he scores ..... could the problem be he gets into right positions but ball fails to get to him as its either over hit of fail to be crossed on a regular basis! He does look very frustrated at times.

Allan, he had four big chances yesterday.

A striker will get in good positions but not be found, that's the nature of football.

But when they are found, they have to take the opportunity. He took none.

No point blaming the crosses because on last night's evidence, he wouldn't take the opportunity.

Wez is right, the problem last night was missing too many big chances. That was the main problem, nothing else.

Yes he should have scored at least one of those chances ... so the question must be is he as good as we thought he was last season? Because he's beginning to look like all the other strikers we've had
Average at best and miss to many chances! Mind you not only one last night ..... another problem is quality of crosses particular from dead ball situations they are awful at best why go far post as we do most times aiming for 2ft tall player? It fails time after time! Maybe being to critical afterall it's only 12 games into season for inexperienced team & coach.

Totally agree with you Allan

I agree he could have done better with a couple of chances on Saturday but in the last 4 league games Salech has scored twice at Stockport and Wigan ( I know it was a penalty but he would have scored if he hadn't been fouled ), was unlucky to have a goal disallowed on Tuesday and hit the bar against Bradford City. He also set up Ashford for a sitter as he had almost identically done in the previous home game for Turnbull. If he can keep that up I will be happy.

I think the money we paid fir him he should be scoring more

His goal on Tuesday was brilliantly taken, pathetic decision by the referee. His reputation at Championship level has made him a marked man and he’s being fouled left right and centre. He’s doing OK and our system doesn’t always suit an out and out striker as it doesn’t at Man City but Haaland is on another level, possibly the best ever seen and even he misses some absolute sitters
