Salech

I never understood the love in for him last season and pre season, and I think a lot are now seeing he's not the player they thought he was.

He's got no pass, he constantly struggles to hold the ball up, his movement is very poor, he doesn't put defenders under enough pressure and as for his heading ability, my 82 year old mother-in-law has more power than he has, it's like his head is a sponge. Absolutely useless........

I wouldn't call him useless but he should have scored a couple tonight (other than the disallowed goal).

I got slated last week for saying it was time to drop him but I was right and he was dropped for Wigan.

I expect Robinson to start on Saturday.

I agree he's not had the best start to the season, and he was wasteful tonight.

But you don't understand the love in for him last season? Scoring 9 goals in half a season for the worst team in the league wasn't impressive?

It's difficult to take this post seriously if that's your genuine view.

Hes got to learn how to adapt in this league..and he will. The shirt pulling that goes unpunished is scandalous but he will come good.
There is a quality player in there

There’s a good championship striker in there. Not sure what’s happened with him this season, I’m a big Robinson fan and believe he our best striker lack season and at the moment, but I have faith in salech. We’ve 4th in the table only lost twice. Murphy chooses the team and sees them everyday early as it is in his time with us I have no major reason to doubt Murphy’s team selection, how can I where we are positioned. And if salech comes good we will be even higher up the table.
20 games I say before we make any rash decisions.

He had 3 or 4 chances to score last night to. If he put then away we would have won easily and called Jesus on here but he didn't. Most come from crosses in the box that's when we actually crossed the f*cking ball 1 in 20 times, he scored one to which wasn't a foul anyway. It got to the point the crowd was screaming cross and getting pissed off. Its beyond the tippy tappy stuff we play out wide with 3 men out there going nowhere so it goes sideways backwards and repeats. I get it at times but every play is the same irrelevant of the score line. We have more of a chance to score off crossing the ball in that's obviously in football. It took injury time to start lobbing it in lastnight but just didn't fall right.

Lobbing in didn’t get us much though, in fact it was playing into their big defenders hands.
20 attempts on goal, 8 on target. Enough said. On another day (hopefully Saturday) Salech would have bagged a brace.

Ridiculous statement, yes he should have done better with his chances last night and he hasn't had the greatest of starts to the season but ill say it again, our style of play doesn't suit him because we get in great areas and we never cross the ball so pointless having a target man on the field so I feel sorry for him, also doesn't help when you are getting put in a headlock and referees constantly let it go but when he grips the shirt back the fouls always go against him

HAHA! I'll tell you what is a ridiculous statement "we never cross the ball". Salech has had 18 headers at goal this season resulting in no goals. He had 2 or 3 excellent heading chances last night and against Bradford which were all pathetic. He's 6ft 4" and useless in the air. And people wondered why we didn't used to cross the ball into the box much.........

I'm not denying he scored goals last season but that doesn't make him the messiah. I don't get carried away when a sticker scores a lot of goals over a short period, they need to show consistency over a couple of seasons.

Look at Kaba as an example, another player who was raved about by loads of City fans. He scored 8 in 17 games for us but has only scored 2 in 23 games since leaving.

I hope Salech proves me wrong but he certainly needs to improve his heading ability to do that.

Correction...I meant to say he's had 18 headers resulting in 2 goals.

He's had 18 headers at goal in 10 games with only 2 goals. Those stats only show the crosses he's actually got his head to and not those that he didn't. Yes I believe he's had good service and should be doing better with it.

Yesterday I will agree he should've definitely scored at least one of them, but stats can be misleading and how many of them crosses were actually great chances to score and not him doing well to get on the end of it?

He missed four big chances.

Salech for me could / will be a top, top striker he just needs better quality service, apart from last night he's feeding off scraps.

Totally agree he wasn't up to it yesterday but ill just put it down to a bad day just like the result and move on, and hopefully he will find his form from last season

Mike, that’s so ironic, as I had the same conversation with Rob, who sits by me, at last night’s game!

Rob is not without experience within the corridors of our club, and he said he feels Salech is ‘not all that we build him up to be!’, and he should be tearing this League apart with his goals!

My own view is that he plays a crucial part as a ‘foil’ for our other players, but there were clear opportunities for him last night, as there have been in other games

I hate to say it, as I want him to be our ‘star’ striker, but he does need to be finishing his chances a lot more frequently! :ayatollah:
