Murphy v Riza first 10 league games.

Tue Sep 30, 2025 9:30 pm

I’m at undecided about Murphy at the moment he impresses me at times and at others looks lost.

So with 10 games gone and it being a nice round number thought I’d see how he stacked up against Riza in his first 10.

Riza- 15 points. Murphy -20 points. Murphy wins that with a 5 point gap (33% improvement)
Looks good for Murphy right, however factor in Riza took over bulut teams with no pre season and none of his own players, as opposed to Murphy having a pre season and getting in some of his own players.
Murphy is in league one and I am shocked how much lower the standard is compared to the championship, so for me the difference in leagues should have yielded more for Murphy.

I believe Riza would have achieved the same if not better than Murphy pound for pound.
However we know how things turned out for Riza.
So the real judgement for me will be the next 10 games can Murphy keep it going and adapt or like Riza has his honeymoon period come to an end. If we had hung on in championship we would be firmly planted in the bottom 3 again this season.

Another 10 games for me before I think I can judge Murphy.

First of all, his surname is Barry-Murphy and not Murphy.

Second, if there's anyone out there who isn't convinced by the manager then they need to give their head a shake.

He was let down tonight by bad finishing. That's all.

No he was let down by poor tactics

Some times I think I live in a different universe to some of our fans, how you can compare riza to BBM is beyond me, yes we weren't great tonight but still did enough to win, the standard of football this season on the whole is far superior to last year

Think you all need to calm down. Riza happens to be our last manager that did 10 games. It’s a comparison. At what point did I slate Murphy and say he another Riza in this thread?

Eight big chances says otherwise.

Is that the best you got?
On does it genuinely offend you as you seem a bit hot under the collar, that I called him Murphy.
I may be wrong but don’t think it’s caused any confusion.
Why is being compared to Riza first 10 games so offensive he did well and brought hope to us all at the time. So much so that you Worcester believed he was the guy to take us to the premier league.

Let’s hope Murphy doesn’t turn out that way.

Why is it?
10 games v 10 games? What’s so strange about it?

Yawn.

Because we're 4th in the league. Three points off top.

Wimbledon manager said we're the best team they've faced.

We missed eight big chances tonight. That was the issue.

Not even going to look at this thread now because, like others have said, I'm convinced you're a WUM.

Oh and it's about respect by the way, at least get his name right.

If we did miss 8 big chances then it was worse than I thought, I would have said 3 or 4 but nowhere near 8.

You talking about respect. Lol.

After 20 games

Riza amassed a pathetic 24- points.
My guess by then Murphy will be between 35-40 and sitting comfortably at the top end of the table nicely poised for promotion.
But strange things happen it football, but from what little we seen so far I can’t see it going any other way than up.

But I don’t know that yet I can only go on first 10.

Poor tactics that produced 20 shots on goal with 8 on target.

I’d be more interested in you comparing BBMs first 10 to Riza’s last.

By my count Riza got 9 points in that time. Night and day mun.

We could have and should have been 3-0 up at halftime and cruising. Those missed chances come back to haunt us . Robbery to lose that against a shit Burton team but it's a good learning game for the team .

That would be terrible benching marking if I picked and chose stats that fitted what I wanted to show.
