Referee rating - marks out of ten

Tue Sep 30, 2025 9:10 pm

Possibly the worst so far.

Disallowing the Salech goal was poor. He was also pushed at the edge of the box and for some reason didn't get a free kick.

At least one good penalty shout too.

He gets a 2 from me.

how him and the linesman missed the Burton player catching the ball is any ones guess

and not 1 player booked for time wasting
their keeper was doing it all game

it was a dreadful display by the officials all round but we should have had this game wrapped up in the first half

That refereeing performance was by far the worst I’ve seen in a long time.

The two fouls on NG were absolutely disgraceful decisions.

The first one where their defender kept pulling him into the box, and the referee gave a free kick outside was unbelievable. Just to clarify the rule:

“If a pull starts outside the penalty area but continues into the penalty area, it results in a penalty kick. The same applies to a continuous holding offence initiated outside the box and concluded inside it. The deciding factor is the continuation of the holding action, not the initial point of contact.”

Instead of applying this, he made up his own rule and brought play back to where the foul started, not where it finished. NG had got goal side and was through yet we were denied a clear penalty. The standard of officiating is honestly atrocious.

Then in the second half, NG gets blatantly blocked off, and somehow the free kick goes the other way!

Yes, we had chances Turnbull one-on-one, Salech’s header, Bagen’s strike over, Ashford right in front, we can only blame ourselves for not taking them. But that level of refereeing was simply disgraceful a penalty and that disallowed goal we probably win easy.

Anyone moaning about our style of play at least you don't have to watch that Burton side every week :sleepy2: but no doubt we will see the same level of atrocious refereeing :banghead:

Another shocker - missed the Pen we should have had - 6 yellow cards and even Burton were asking questions to the ref .

A ‘10’ trumped that score! :o

Missing two penalties (for us) and Salech’s ‘goal’ makes him the worse so far this season; but ironically, I don’t ‘blame’ him for our loss. We simply weren’t at the races, although I thought had we gone in front, we’d have taken the game quite comfortably! :ayatollah:

Two from me disalowed a goal and two penalties missed, what a shocker and obviously it changes the game, gives them confidence and allows them to pinch a win with a flukey goal, those three points lost due to him could be very important and cost us a lot.

He capped off what was a already a generally poor display in style in the last 15 mins with his decision to stop the game just as we were about to shoot, not spotting a clear the push on Salech in the last minute, giving a free kick to Burton when Ng appeared to be brought down in the box and not even looking when they were wasting time. He seemed to be asleep. Awful referee but we should have wrapped it up so his imcompetance didn't mattter.

It’s easy to agree and not blame him.

But the flip side is if that Salech goal is given it’s a very different game that we don’t need to press and don’t leave as many gaps by trying to get more bodies forward.

I wholeheartedly agree we weren’t clinical enough but that is highlighted by us having to force the game and being more fatigued as the 90 pressed on.
If we had won 1-0 we would be saying ah well. Something to work on. Great for Salech to build his total.

But we were cheated out of that goal by an incompetent ref.

Probably because there's no option to vote for 0 out of 10.

This referee needs to be investigated. A perfectly good goal disallowed and the two penalties on NG.

As correctly stated above, if the shirt pulling continues into the box, a penalty should be given. Either the ref doesn't know the rules, or he's cheated us.

The second penalty was a blatant bodycheck, their player actually stepped across and threw both his arms out to block NG running onto the return pass!

This referee needs to be relegated to the non leagues until he learns the rules and learns how to give basic, obvious decisions.

In contrast, Bradford's equaliser came from what should have been a clear throw in to Rotherham, so the officials have gifted Bradford a 4 point advantage over us this week. :banghead:
