And therein lies the truth!![]()
It’s amazing how little old Wrexham suddenly attracted such ‘loyal’ supporters, isn’t it?!![]()
No jealousy from me! I loves my Bluebirds, I does; and I’m happy I don’t have to say ‘Laah’ after every sentence!![]()

I'd be more worried about them if it was silk boxers.

We only started attracting more supporters when we started going through the leagues as well mind. And as we dropped it dwindles. Just like most clubs it’s to expected nothing new here really.

Relative to your age, maybe. We've averaged >20,000 since 2010; but going back, we've had 5 other decades (not including the past 15 years) of 20,000 or more. Peaking at 28,000-35,000. 80s and 90s tends to be the reference of crowds, but that was a big dip and average low point in our entire history.
Other than 2016 & 2017 (and covid times), we've been quite stable over 15 years. With 2 spikes in premier league.
In short - when crap and not performing: 18,000-21,000
In promotion pushes/play off surges: 20,000-23,000 (which isn't much of a difference)
Premier league:27,000 & 31,000 (Welcome to the Liverpool, United and Arsenal lot for 1 season)

Regarding your point on the 80 and 90 agree they were the lowest in our history, though attendances everywhere were down, but as any of us who there know the announced crowd was far lower than the numbers in the ground. We used to laugh when the crowd was announced. It was the exact opposite of the situation these days

I know the reasons (for our club), I was just presenting the data.
Point being, Cardiff City have (generally) been well supported over their history, other than the 80s and 90s; which tends to be the era that all compare to.
Likely because a) it's our lowest and b) I assume that the majority range of ages of posters on here started in the 80s and 90s.

Mr Ducie wrote:Cardiff City have actually attracted varying large attendance numbers over the years ( excluding the diabolical 80’s and 90’s which coincidentally affected nearly every club )
Between 1921 and 1926 we averaged 31,000 ( bigger than many big premier league clubs )
Between 1927 and 1939 we averaged around 20,000 with attendances as high as 40,187
Between 1946 and 1952 we averaged around 33,000 ( with a seasons average of nearly 38,000 twice ) and a highest gate of 60,855
In the 50’s and 60’s and 70’s we attracted crowds in excess of 58,000

I'm sure they're still upset at that 3-2 win we had in the FA cup in the 70s when they were busy celebrating a last minute equalizer & we went straight up the other end from the kick off & won it 3-2.

Remember it well. Match of the Day as well. Billy Ashcroft scored and celebrated in front of the Canton where they had a few fans. Some guy hanging around the pillar at the front celebrating to the camera. Thirty seconds later Steve Grapes laid it back to Buchanan and the Grangend went wild. Cant believe it was nearly 50 years ago

Snap, I was in the corner of the Grange, about to leave to walk around to the supporters shop (back of Canton), to book a place for the replay. Everyone went loopy. lol

You’re wrong, apart from the truly bad period in the 80’s, our support has been consistent throughout its history, and particularly since Sam arrived to save/rescue our club; and I’ve been there for 40+k crowds, e.g. Everton in the FA Cup!
