Nathan Trott

The way that BBM wants us to play inevitably means that we're likely to concede goals like we did last night.

Trott got away with one on Saturday but wasn't so lucky yesterday. Perhaps an example of the difference in the quality of the finishing in League 1 and the Premier League even if it was a second string Burnley side.

However, I am in no way going to criticise Trott for what happened last night - apart from the goal (which was a cracking shot by the way which gave him no chance) I thought he was excellent again, making some very good saves and generally sound with his distribution.

If we accept that we are going to be mostly building from the back then we have to also accept that occasionally we will get caught out.

I also like the fact that he didn't let the mistake affect him, even chipping a lovely pass over an attacker just after their goal.

A mistake last night yes, but such a good goalkeeper who'll have a huge part to play in our season.

I agree, we're going to concede goals like that. It's an occupational hazard of the way we want to play.

I know some fans don't want the goalkeeper to be playing passes and for him to mostly kick it long, but that's not the manager's philosophy - and that won't change.

We do use variation, sometimes trying to find Salech from Trott. But primarily we will play in this way.

It's not an issue for me as long as Trott continues to make the great saves that he has and we can limit the amount of times we concede from those situations.

I have never liked the play from the back route - but I have to concede that BBM is a better coach than me.

He made an error last night, but recovered well. It wasnt a gimme and infact a quality finish.

He went on to make 3 or 4 HUGE chances saves, which were arguably more 'on a plate' than his error.

I really like him.

The thing I liked most is lots of keepers crumble after a mistake but literally the next ball that came to him he played a little pass around the striker to Wintle

All keepers make errors even the best in the world, I'm just thankful we have a top quality one after years of mediocrity

Many of our previous goalkeepers would have gone into their shell but Trott carried on as normal and didn’t let it effect him .He is a first class addition to our squad and hope we can sign him permanently :bluescarf:

Most players have mistakes in them and it's tough on a GK as one mistake can lead to conceding. He doesn't have many in him and is completely confident both on and off the ball. A decent upgrade on Hovarth for sure and for me one we should be buying sooner than later.

Best keeper we’ve had for years imo.

Class keeper. Great with his feet and 1 on 1 you think he's going to save it. Has great reactions too.

So not a clown like he was called on the match thread then.

Some people are stuck in the 80’s with comments like that.

They still want the keeper to hoof it long and give away possession virtually every time.

I think he’s the best keeper we’ve had for a long time.

He was a clown for the shit pass his ball distribution is honking at times but that's why he's on goal and not outfield. As for any goalkeeper I expect them to make saves that's why they are there. He's doing orite otherwise a decent shot stopper but hardly leaves his line for crosses or corners even long balls through he's had to chance to come out but back peddles when he could get to the ball rather than take tha shot. I wouldn't say he's the best goalkeeper we have had like some after not even on playing both hands of games yet.

Who would you prefer in goals over Trott in recent seasons, then?

Agree with that; and I’m surprised he hasn’t been snapped up elsewhere and higher up the Leagues!

He’s been a breath of fresh air in goal, and inspires confidence amongst the team, management, and support-base! The best keeper since David Marshall, IMHO ,and a wise(r) hierarchy should pay his reasonable transfer fee now to make sure he’s here to stay! :ayatollah:

Trott made a massive mistake sadly he will make more but at his age he will get better and better I have every trust this boy will be really good and one of the best keepers we have had

Hopefully he gets into that conversation but not yet.

Its early days, but so far, he has been excellent. Infact, as someone who hasfillowed City aince the days of BobWilaon and Fred Davies, I am hard pushed to think. If a better keeper. But better to judge him at the end of the season perhaps.
