JOEL COLWILL:

City claimed a 2-1 win with Joel on the scoresheet, as well as a strike for Callum Robinson, the latter netting for a third consecutive game.

"It was a great night," the midfielder began. "I thought we played really well, especially some of our work in possession.

"Bradford at the weekend were a very good team. It was important for us to bounce back and get another win on the board, move on from that defeat and start another run. Tonight was a really important win for us."

The Bluebirds looked comfortable and confident in possession throughout the contest, impressing with an effective high press.

In the second half, City showed defensive resilience to see out the victory, as the Premier League side looked to draw level.

Joel continued: "Of course, Burnley are a very high-quality team with some very good players, so it was never going to be easy, but all we can do is play our football to the best of our ability, try to work harder than them and today we took the win.

"We do those things in possession all the time in training. We work on those patterns no matter who we’re playing against. We’re going to play our way and do what we can to the best of our ability.

"I think it’s brilliant for us as a squad to test ourselves and play against players who are in the best league in the world. It’s something that we can be proud of as a Club and see where we’re at."

Next up for City is an away clash with Wigan Athletic on Saturday, with attention now turning back to league action.

"We go into every game trying to win, no matter who it is against," Joel added. "Wigan away is a another game for us to give our all in.

"I’ve really enjoyed it this season. I’ve come in and we’ve been playing good football. We’ve been winning games and I’ve loved being a part of it."

Played at Plymouth too, another one of our best performances, he needs to stay in the team.

It was so important to bounce back, after last season when we got into a slump we struggled to recover, this is a good sign although still early doors to suggest this season we will be the opposite this season.

There will be setbacks, it’s how we respond to them that matters

He’s a proper box to box player.

I love his energy & enthusiasm.

Being a local Cardiff lad is the icing on the cake for me :bluebird:

The energy and work rate from the two Colwills and Wintle make us a stronger team.

A bit of pace on the wings, Ashford and Willock in the first half, Davies and Kellyman in the second, when they are tired—along with a switch from Salech to Robinson makes us difficult to play against. With Lalwor, Fish, Bagan, and Kapacio, we are a solid, aggressive, high-energy team. Everything’s looking good, with strong backup options for every player.

Rubin has the skill but is flat footed and not as athletic as Joel. First impressions but I think Joel will go further.

Joel is the type of player we’ve needed in midfield for years.

He has the legs and pace to drive us forward that simply nobody else does in this squad.

We were a different team on Saturday when he came on and we were a different team against Burnley.

He’s going to be a top player for us and Wales from what I have seen so far,

I'm loving watching Joel grow as a player this year. Him and Kpakio have surprised me massively so far. I knew they were good with lots of potential but the confidence they both play with has blown me away. They've made that step up from development team to senior level seem a breeze...and defo some credit gotta go to BBM there for instilling that confidence in them.

Joel will be a fan favourite before long. He's not a flair player, he keeps things relatively simple but I don't see any sort of weakness to his game, he can do it all. He's a Joe Ralls but with more pace and more athleticism.

Love his interviews too, so down to earth and humble.

Are the Colwill brothers genuinely Cardiff born and breed?

My neices husband is a scout for the club and he has watched Joel all the way up through youth and has always said he is going to be the better player

If Bellamy is picking them both and Lawlor, you know they are good; he's a great judge of a player, both on ability and attitude.

Both brothers were born and bred in Neath, not Cardiff.

BBM:

“ JOEL COLWILL “

He’s been tearing up trees and has been outstanding:

The younger Colwill brother is quickly emerging as one of Cardiff's most important players this season and Barry-Murphy highlighted how he helps to set the standard in training in terms of intensity.

"I saw him when he was on loan at Cheltenham, then Exeter, so I knew him from the outside," Barry-Murphy said of the 20-year-old.
