Joel Colwill

Just an observation following making the long journey from the North to watch the Bradford City game. (The result was disappointing but it wasnt a bad game).

It struck me just how important the fight and energy (not to mention skill) of Joel Colwill is to Cardiff City. I think it was a mistake to play him against Exeter and rest him Saturday. It should have been rest v Exeter and play v Bradford.
I thought that the partnership of Turnbull and Wintle was pretty slow and ineffective. Infact, I was surprised that BBM didnt take Turnbull off before the dnd as he had an off day.

[One other point, I have pointed out many times that i am no fan of Ribinson, but I must admit that he plYed pretty well when he came on, and I think I saw him make a challenge/tackle!! However, I thought Fish olayed well at the back and was M o M for City]. :bluebird: :bluebird:

He didn’t play at Exeter though?

I watched Exeter match on tv! Sorry memory playing tricks.
In which case he should have started in midfield, imho, against Bradford.I rate him highly.
Strange to play Wintle with Turnbull.

Sometimes you need a ralls/gunarrsson type player to put themselves about against certain opposition turnbull and wintle are more pretty players but don' t get stuck in we needed that saturday .

Agree with your first post, but I wouldn't call it a strange decision. Plenty on here have said they'd want to see Wintle and Turnbull in midfield.

But I agree with the general point, Joel Colwill gives us something that Turnbull doesn't in terms of physicality. Turnbull had a poor game on Saturday so will probably be dropped for Wigan anyway I expect.

I may have chosen a good day to praise Joel Colwill!!
He has been v good at Burnley in the first half. On the Burnley fans aite 1/2 time, giving praise to City and one fan gives rarings for all players- he rates Colwill as star player 9/10.
See if we can keep the lead 2half??

Good player, I like both Colwills in midfield instead of Turnbull.

Joel has a terrific engine on him.
In the near future he will be our new Gunnarsson.
He just doesn’t stop running and being a pain in the arse upsetting the opposition at any opportunity.
So much of his tireless work goes unnoticed.

He played against Plymouth, also one of our best games of the season. He should start every week when fit.
