BURNLEY/WIGAN GAMES.

Sun Sep 21, 2025 4:33 pm

How will the players react if we get thrashed at burnley ?
2 defeats in a row hope this does not set us back,
Hence more need for us fans to turn up in numbers at wigan to help them back on track,
a big away following would certainly help the lads along .

Depends in who bbm plays it could be 8 changes..... so hard to say how Saturdays players will react if not playing....or how a changed team takes losing against a Premier league team?...tbh monty not sure how relevant Tues result is to players
Going forward.

When you have won so many games on the trot then loose 2 on the bounce it gets in your head the same with fans its natural to start doubting yourself ,but yes depends on who plays if we are throwing this game away with 10 changes to concentrate on the wigan league game its all down to murphy,
its a difficult one you don' t want to get smashed but then don' t want the players knackered for sat .

Monty can see a 4 nil defeat but I'm sure won't effect Saturday's game! What concerns me more is bbms style of play its same every game and upto Saturday its payed off if a bit luckily ...... Bradford got the goals that we could have conceded in other games! Point being will bbm change style if lose again? That's where the doubts start in player minds

I'd play the under 21s and send Purse to manage them. Loads of games coming up, focus on Wigan.

This is why said i hoped murphy had a plan B for saturday,
we either overcome the oppositions play by imposing ours,
or we switch to another style this we have yet to see from murphy ,
i think he did try the defensive bit at port vale but he and the team struggled with it,
so when you have 2 pressing teams playing each other you battle it out to overcome them or switch tactics.

I remember before bbm came Rochdale fans were saying he's stubborn and set in his ways and refuses to change style or tacticals

However bbm admitted this in an interview and said the years at man city made him realise theres more than one way to win a game

He now has the chance to prove to us he has more than one string to his bow

Agree - Wigan is the main focus .

Play your strongest team against Burnley. No point resting players - never makes any difference. Let’s get them playing again .

Definitely play a weakened team, Wigan is much more important.

Burnley won't be playing their first team either.

Would expect Burnley to win anyway.

17 points off 8 games and 3 cup wins BBM can be as stubborn as he likes, he's earned the right

It's going to be very interesting, but I think almost all of u have faith in BBM and the team to find a way and get back to winning ways at Wigan, sod Burnley, that's a squad trial practice match, play the reserves and youngsters.

I hate Liverpool but 1 point they treat every game as important. Get Rubin etc to realise kicking the ball over the bar numerous times will never get him in the premiership. Play the strongest team and try to win. Then go for Wigan. If they are not physically or mentally strong to play twice in a week we should know. How the hell will they ever play champions league and premiership league in a week. Let’s not kid ourselves we say Rubin etc are special show it.

That's a backwards view in my opinion. I expect Liverpool will make eight changes at least for their cup tie against Southampton tomorrow.

The other point is we are not a Premier League giant like them.

If we played our best team in every game then the injuries would pile up and the manager would be criticised for playing the best players in cup games.

Play a different team, see what happens and move on to Wigan.

I would lose 5-0 tomorrow if it meant we won at Wigan.

Yes, Wigan has to be the priority and we need to bounce back with a win.

Of course none of us want to lose tonight but with a weakened team probably playing, it's likely we will lose. Just hope we keep the score down.

Wigan is clearly the more important game, but we should take the Burnley game serious, too! If not, why get on the bus? :?

Promotion is 100% the focus, and I don’t think our ‘mixed’ team losing to a Premier League team would have any major impact on our main objectives for the season. Indeed, if we put in a decent performance against the Spiv’s Burnley team, it will build confidence and should we win, it could lead to an even better cup game (hopefully at home)

If we’re in it, we should aim to win it! As one who was there, I want to dream of another trip to Wembley to take one of the Premier League‘big boys’; only this time winning it! :ayatollah:

Glad that the manager has picked a strong team. If players cannot play Tuesday and Saturday they should give up. Players get injured in training so that argument does not stand up. After international breaks we go backwards so keep playing l say. My opinion only so don’t take offence.
