Gareth Bales Says after his Failed attempt to Buy Cardiff C

Sun Sep 21, 2025 10:56 am

Vincent Tan batted away interest but it appears that has not Bale off from getting involved in club ownership in the future.

Gareth Bale:

“I am still interested in getting involved in buying a football club, I tried t buy my hometown club.”

"I knew football wasn't going to last forever anyway. I enjoy being with family, keeping in football a little bit by doing some stuff on the TV. My kids keep me very busy," Bale said.

"It's great to now have that time to spend with them and not be away every weekend and missing a lot of them growing up, just being able to go out and be a dad finally. At the moment I'm quite content where I am."

"Like I said, if something was to happen with a football club, I would definitely be interested and would love to explore it," he added.

"I'm still pretty relatively new into retirement so I'm still enjoying that phase of relaxing a bit."

Previously this summer the former Real Madrid and Tottenham star revealed why Cardiff were in his sights.

"I suggested about my home team," answered Bale.

"It’s one that’s been on the decline for a few years now and has such massive potential, being a one-city club.“

"We were looking forward to the response, we would love to get ownership of it and take the club back to where we think it belongs."

Mehmet Dalman:

Cardiff chairman Mehmet Dalman dismissed the speculation, labelling talk of the club being sold as "fiction".

"There is an attempt by a number of groups to try to buy this club on the cheap, so they are putting these stories out and we just need to kill them [the stories]. Our focus is to get promoted."

Would have been great having G Bale at Cardiff, but the Tan circus wouldn't let go, after running it into gutter. Maybe one day back room management will change and things might get better.
The fans seem to have gone quite because we are doing OK, don't forget we got relegated to league One.

The statement is there; he was just representing speculators hoping to buy the football club on the cheap as an investment.

Sounds to me that Bale is not overly fussy regarding what club he'd get involved with.

He's quoted above saying he's like to potentially invest in 'a club' so he's nonspecific. Comes across like he's not bothered whether it's City or some other club.

So true.

The "buying on the cheap" comment came from Dalman, i wouldn't believe him if he told me the world was round. By the way, one of the potential new owners met all the financial requirements from the dictator.

Can’t fault anyone who tried to get us for trying, but I’m not sure he has the same passion about the club as it’s made out to be.

He’s a Cardiff fan, I remember when he was on loan at spurs from Madrid he did some interviews with the other Welsh players there, who are all jacks, and they constantly teased each other about it.

But in terms of real passion, I think he supports someone else and Cardiff will always just be his hometown club

I understand and generally agree with your sentiment, but the offer was too low since it wasn’t accepted. Ultimately, it’s the seller, not the buyer, who sets the price of a house or a football club.

If all requirements were met why did tan not sell as he is taking big risk on us getting promoted to get even more money or no promotion less money..? Don't buy dalman advised him not to sell part .... can see it now Vincent please don't sell as I want to keep getting my £2m+ interest on my £40m investment? Tan as his own advisors why listen to dalman ...

Allan, as you know there were/are others apart from Bale interested and one basically met all what Tan was asking for but he got cold feet at the critical moment. He was advised to wait, lawyers maybe who knows.

I have said previously it was a gamble for Tan to wait as promotion is not garaunteed and if we dont get promoted he will not get what was offered this time? And get promoted no garauntee any consortium will come in again and buy at higher price?.. . Certainly that gamble is paying off as clubs value will surely have risen given the playing assets have undoubtedly
Increased massively since last season! But I don't believe tan will sell unless we don't get promoted but as said value will decrease simply because all our good players will be gone leaving untried youngsters again! Can't for life of me think why tan wouldn't sell if given what he wanted considering he's been trying to sell club for several years.... typical tan behaviour unpredictable...

This stopping work on the new training ground is a strange one, on the one hand it could be he's ready to sell and wont spend any monies on the club, (great and p*ss off) but from a business point of view a fully completed new training facility would add millions to the selling price of the club.

Agree but think fell into similar trap last time thinking the reason behind doing something was precursor to a sale and this seems similar why spend money if getting taken over... surely tan factured in theses things on relegation as supposed to have been root & branch review of costs? Yes less cash flow but can't be that much considering crowds slightly better than last season players wages reduced! Guess we'll never know true readon behind decision just another bit of tan unpredictability.
