Cian Ashford was sent off against the Grecians, he is eligible for the League One game as his suspension only applies to the Vertu Trophy.

However, chasing him for his shirt is Isaak Davies, who impressed during his outing at St James Park this week and is looking for his first league start of the campaign

BBM:

“Kevin Gibbins leads the physical aspects here. He’s very good and the reason I brought him to the Club was because of his expertise in these areas.

“He was adamant that it was the best for Omari to start the game and to come off after around 30 minutes. Off the back of where he has been and what he has done, we felt that was right. I’m very pleased that he's come out of it well.

“It was a good game for him. He’s been very keen to experience what it will be like in League One. He’s shown glimpses of what he can do, but he also had a taste of the physical nature of how teams will play against him, which will be very beneficial going forward.

“I’ve seen Troy since the start of pre-season. He’s done very well in training with us and the U21 games that I’ve seen.

"I didn’t think it was necessary for Rubin and Joel to play based on what they’ve been through over the last few weeks, so I gave an opportunity to Troy.

"I think with all the young players, they have to earn that and really feel that they’re there on merit. Troy earned it based on how well he has trained with us."

BBM:

“One of the big things that I saw at my previous clubs was that once the players become aware of how important it is to the Club, they make themselves available.

"A big part of what we’re trying to do this season is making sure the players spend time in the community and that the demands on them from the Club are high.

"From my experience, sometimes in football, we become pre-occupied by training and games, which become the most important part of our lives, when it’s not the case.

“Anything that brings it [the Foundation’s work] into people’s attention or into the forefront of our minds is beneficial. It just reaffirms the importance of it.

"Like in modern day life, the tendency is to put things on the backburner and think I’ll not do it today, I’ll do it tomorrow or the week after, but these things have to be done now because they’re more important than anything we do on the pitch."

Brian Barry-Murphy said the decision to pull Omari Kellyman off after 35 minutes in the win over Exeter City was pre-planned as they wanted to avoid any "risk" of overdoing it on his Cardiff City debut.

“We have to be careful and take it slowly with him.”

Kellyman endured a nightmare first season at Chelsea last season following a £19m move from Aston Villa. The playmaker suffered two bad hamstring injuries, the last of which saw him undergo surgery in March - and he hadn't played a competitive game since.

Cardiff City are sweating on the fitness of key centre-back duo Dylan Lawlor and Gabriel Osho for this weekend's top-of-the-table clash with Bradford City.

And City's head coach will have to wait on late fitness tests for Cardiff duo Lawlor and Osho, both of whom were taken off with groin niggles in the 1-0 Vertu Trophy win over Exeter City on Tuesday.

BBM:

"I can't say this week that everyone is OK. There are quite a few question marks leading into Saturday," Barry-Murphy said ahead of the Bradford encounter.

"We train this afternoon and there are some checks.

"Dylan came off with some pain in his groin, which I think he had on international duty with Wales as well, so we just have to be careful with that one.”

"Gabriel Osho was the same, some fatigue and stiffness in his groin. So he will be checked today."

In more positive news, Alex Robertson will be in contention for his first competitive minutes of the campaign.

The midfielder, who played under Barry-Murphy in Manchester City's academy, has not played since he sustained an injury against Notts County in the penultimate pre-season game, while a hamstring injury also set back his return.

BRADFORD CITY MANAGER:

Manager: Graham Alexander
Assistant Manager: Chris Lucketti
Goalkeeping Coach: Colin Doyle

Graham Alexander's professional playing career lasted 20+ years, taking the field for Scunthorpe United, Luton Town, Preston North End (twice) and Burnley.

The former Scotland international ventured into management immediately after hanging up his boots in 2012 and has since taken the reins at PNE (caretaker), Fleetwood Town, Scunthorpe United, Salford City, Motherwell, MK Dons and the Bantams.

Alexander led Bradford City to third place and an automatic promotion spot in League Two last season, and they've started on fire this term.

BBM:

“BRADFORD CITY”

“They’re a team that have had success," Brian began. "When teams have been promoted, they have that feeling of momentum and have been together for a successful period.

“We’re slightly different in that we haven’t been together for a long time. We’re in the very early stages of trying to do what we want to, so it will be a great test for us.

“Coming back to Cardiff City Stadium in front of a huge crowd will be brilliant for us. The experience that we’ve had at home has been really positive.

"In every single game, the players have played very aggressively and have tried to be on the front foot as much as possible.

“That being said, we’re under no illusions about how difficult that will be on Saturday against a team that have strong qualities and a clear identity in the way they play the game.”

If there's ever a game to risk your first choice CB, it's this one.

Lawlor and Fish CB so key.

Failing that, I think i'd prefer to see an NG and Fish pairing before seeing Chambers starting at CB again.

I hope at least one of Lawlor and Osho can pass their fitness checks, then they can play with Fish. Ideal if they're both available, could both start.

If they're both injured then I'd start Fish and Ng at CB. That would be a better option than Chambers.

Great to have Alex Robertson available again. Wouldn't surprise me if he came on off the bench for Wintle. He played in that position for BBM at Man City and Wintle has played a lot of minutes lately.
