" A good start to Vertu Trophy campaign "

Tue Sep 16, 2025 8:01 pm

Good to open the Vertu Trophy campaign with a win in 90 minutes, already gives us a good chance of going through.

Wasn't a perfect display, probably expected with so many changes. Second half much better than the first.

Good for Callum Robinson to get his first goal of the season. That will help him.

Poor from Ashford being sent off late on for kicking the ball away when he was on a yellow card.

I was impressed with Osho, Perrett, Turnbull and Ng.

Wasn’t convinced by Osho, quite disappointed. Although the commentator also mentioned he played well. I thought he got knocked off the ball a couple of times by their big striker. Shows what I know.

A win is a win. We were let off by their very poor finishing.

Ned was not Impressed by that last 10mins... the players messed about continously resulting in red card and inches away from conceding a goal ... you play to win until final whistle not play like Sunday league team for last ten minutes.

Away win, clean sheet, some decent young performers. Cant grumble.

I fully agree with you Pembroke Alan. And if the coaching team were shouting to keep the ball for 8 minutes when you can attack I simply don’t agree with it.

Red card was poor from Ashford and avoidable.

Their goal was clearly offside.

At the end of the day, it's another win and another clean sheet.

Can’t imagine BBM is too happy with the red card.

Anyone else think Osho was a little slow?
Clearly talented and confident with the ball at his feet. Perhaps just a fitness thing.

Yes but take what they did into the league you'll end up with different result? Didn't do it Saturday so why tonight it was not a meaningless game but it looked as if the players thought it was in those 10mins.... a win is a win but a lucky win Exeter should have had 2 at least their goal was very close decision and could easily have been missed by lino.
Apparently Ashford misses next round as its only applied in this competition

I thought all our best work came down the left Davies and Giles linked up very well.

I thought Davies was our best player first half, taking his man on and running in behind just lacked that end product.

Ashford actually had a good game when he came on, he put a great ball in for the goal very similar to Willock against Stockport then gets stupidly involved with their captain who was trying to wind him up and it worked.

Kellyman looked miles off it. I wasn't expecting miracles as he has been out for so long but that is no excuse for not running. He also looked physically weak in any challenge. It's definitely going to be a while before he is up to speed.
