Not The Way Forward Thread

NG and Chambers are not the way forward. Watching the game today was a throw back to last season. Only when both went off we brought Lawler and Kpakio on did we look comfortable and started playing. We have to stick with the youngsters.
That said we also looked much better when Turnball game on.

I agree.

Also, Wintle/Joel and Rubin together didnt work against Norwood. Norwood was given the stage and enjoyed it. I'm suprised BBM didn't have a plan for that.

Subs got us a point as Lawlor seemed to control the pace. The Isaak/Willock switch of wings was a master stroke.

Not one fan disagrees with you but this is modern football and rotation is vital. BBM didn’t change a winning team for a laugh.

This.

It is a lot to ask for young players who have barely played first team football before to play 46 games. They will have to be rested at times.

If they'd have started yesterday and picked up an injury, some would be saying "they've started too many games and they should have been rested."

Broadly agree.

However...

Plenty of games to rest them in the coming weeks against teams who hopefully will not pose quite as tough a test as Stockport away.

As shown by the struggles of Chambers and NG yesterday, these youngsters are quickly becoming first choice starters and for me you should always try to pick your strongest starting line up against the stronger teams in the division, especially away from home.

No idea why Osho wasn't given some game time yesterday. If BBM wanted to give Lawlor a proper rest why not bring on a player with recent Premier League experience who has had two weeks to learn the system and who undoubtedly knows how BBM likes to play having played for him before.
