" BBM: I don't make changes for the sake of it "

Sat Sep 13, 2025 10:44 pm

Brian Barry-Murphy:

"Perry Ng had a really good training week and Dylan Lawlor has had a lot on his plate, playing a lot of games. So I thought it was a good time to freshen it up and give Calum Chambers the appearance that I felt he deserved.”

“We will make changes in team selection but only based on how the players are training and playing.”

“I don't think that should change, not for the sake of it. I don't want to be known as a tinkerman or anything like that. I'm not good enough to be that.”

“There will be changes for the Vertu Trophy game on Tuesday, I might be the tinkerman for that.”

“We have a very select squad but we have competition in almost every area. So all these players have to feel like they can play if they train like Perry and Calum have been.

Ronan and Dylan have played a lot of games and will benefit from playing less minutes today.

But I suppose if we hadn't have scored that late goal then I would have been wrong and still could be."

Open and honest. He is a breathe of fresh air, willing to take it on the chin, but we got a point today which is a good result.

One concern for me is against a high press we can’t handle it, we struggle to play the controlled football we have seen this season.

Happened at port vale happened today, but we did t give up and got a point in both games.

Last season we lose both games.

Even though I think we would have been slightly better in possession, I think it's far too convenient to say that we would have been much better with Lawler and Kpakio starting.

As impressive as they've been this season, I really don't think they'd have been able to prevent the chances we conceded today.

Whilst we did instantly take control of the game when they were subbed on, it also coincided with Stockport tiring and dropping deeper to preserve their lead.

There should have been changes halftime yesterday. Seems to be an unwritten rule wait until 60 min not to upset players. We all know who should have come off too.

I don't know if the changes unbalanced the team or if it ultimately made little difference. Our defending wasn't a big issue. Trott made a couple of saves but it wasn't a MOTM performance like in Port Vale or Luton. Our biggest problem was not creating anything ourselves. Rubin was very quiet, Salech was isolated and our performance was compounded by a very poor ref

No he's got this interview thing all wrong. U got to blame everyone else :banghead: :banghead:

All jokes aside what a difference in manager to face up to his mistakes don't shy away and certainly doesn't pass any blame

Here's a novel idea, maybe it's what the manager wants to do & has zero to do with not wanting to upset anyone. What a strange suggestion to make.

Nothing strange about seeing players do absolutely nothing for 45 minutes and then they still appear for 2nd half. Wait 15 min no difference then decide to take them off. Point I'm making is you don't see many players subbed at halftime when it's obvious they should be as they are under performing or an opposition player has them in their pocket.

He subbed mafico after 30 minutes against Rotherham which he knew would be difficult for a 17 year old to take so I don't think he's worried about upsetting players

Although I do agree there should have been changes sooner yesterday but bbm is the gaffer and we just have to believe in his reasoning he hasn't steered us to far wrong so far

He took the youngster off because he was likely to get a red card. All I'm saying is managers leave players on too long. I was there yesterday and changes needed to be made. If it's not the case of upsetting players I just don't get it.
