It's a mixed bag in terms of other injured players, with David Turnbull back available, but Alex Robertson needing more time.

Rubin Colwill had a sore knee but is ok now.

"We have had a chance to look at all of the games really closely and look at what went well and what you can do better, and there are a lot of things we can improve."

BBM:

“Omari Kellyman”

"We just have to be mindful of where he is coming from," the head coach added. "He has been training with Chelsea, but with a group of players who were identified as going out on loan. So that would have been in smaller groups.

"He hasn't really trained with a team for a period and his last competitive game was a long time ago, so while he is a player of the highest potential, we have to be patient in terms of how hard to push him, to give him a chance to acclimatise.

Brian Barry-Murphy believes Omari Kellyman can play all across the forward line - including striker - after joining Cardiff City on loan, but urged patience after the Chelsea player's "complex" recent injury.

"I think one of the most important parts of bringing him to the club is that I've seen him play in all five of the front positions," Barry-Murphy said of his most recent signing.

"He can play equally as effectively as a No.10, winger, I've seen him play as a striker at Aston Villa a few times, on the right he is effective.

"I see him being effective in all five of the front positions, really, and that's why he is so important to our squad."

Kellyman suffered two pretty serious hamstring injuries last season, the most recent of which saw him undergo surgery back in March.

BBM:

"Omari has had no game action for a prolonged period, so they are both getting used to our way of working and building themselves up.

"Omari, it's been a long time since he played competitively and he has had a pretty complex injury. We have to be patient in terms of how hard we push and how early. We want him to be successful over the course of the season, not just the early days."

“ RUBIN COLWILL “

Rubin Colwill had to waive his international recall this month, thus prompting his brother Joel to get the call-up and receive his first cap in the 1-0 friendly defeat by Canada. Sign up to our daily Cardiff City newsletter here.

And while Barry-Murphy described Colwill as a "doubt" for the Stockport clash, it appears likely he will be involved.

"Rubin had an issue with his knee. He was in a pretty heavy challenge in the lead-up to the first goal from Ryan Wintle in the box and his knee was pretty sore," the head coach said of Colwill's injury.

"It will be his first day training today, actually. He did some parts on Tuesday, but we are hopeful if he trains today and tomorrow he will be available Saturday.

"He is a doubt because he essentially hasn't trained until today."

“Alex Robertson has been back this week as well but he is a few weeks behind where the rest of the team are currently with regards to training and fitness. We will need to be patient with him with regards to building that up.

"Based also on his past, with previous hamstring injuries. I wouldn't like to put a definite time frame on his return. We are working with him to get back at the right time."

BBM:

The Bluebirds have had an international break since their last competitive action. While away, the City boss was nominated for Sky Bet League One Manager of the Month following an August that contained five wins and a draw from six league matches.

As well as Brian's nomination, City goalkeeper Nathan Trott was also recognised for his excellent work, in the player category.

"I wouldn't vote for me," Brian humbly began. "I think you always have to have an appreciation for the work others are doing.

"For the Club though it is a sign we're doing really well. Whoever is chosen, it is great.

"Nathan has done really well. It's never easy to come into a new Club in that position, with as little time to work as he did. He's had a great impact on the team.

"He's helped us enormously to get some very important results in the first month of the season. We're very pleased with him. Hopefully he can continue to get even better."

“Omari will be available to play, but how long depends on his fitness.”

Gabriel Osho, the centre-back who was captured on a permanent deal before the international break, will be available for the Stockport game.”

"They will both be available and have both settled in really well," he said. "There are slight differences, Gabriel has been playing in France with Auxerre at the start of their season, so has had some game action.”

BBM:

It's a mixed bag in terms of other injured players, with David Turnbull back available, but Alex Robertson needing more time.

"David is back in full training. He trained all week," Barry-Murpy said of the Scot, who went off injured against Luton Town last month.

"Alex has been back this week as well. But they are different cases. I would say that Alex is four to five weeks behind the other players in terms of him picking up that injury at Notts County.

"He trained for a couple of days, intermittently, before the start of the season. But before the end of August, he didn't train at all and complained of some hamstring pain.”

"So we will have to be patient with him in terms of building up his training volume to get close to where the lads are physically.

"He is behind the other players. And also based on his past, he had his hamstring issue at Portsmouth, so I'm sensitive to how hard we push him.

"David will be in the squad Saturday, Alex won't."

Re: BREAKING BRIAN BARRY MURPHY: “ THURSDAY 11TH SEPTEMBER 2

Dylan Lawlor spoke to the press at CCS ahead of City's return to Sky Bet League One action.

"I just want to be playing senior football, so to do that for the Club I've supported all my life, and my own country, it's what dreams are made of. It's incredible." Dylan explained. "You've always got to be ready, because you never know when that first opportunity is going to come. I've definitely felt ready, and I think it's about keeping that going now.

"It's nice to have a good network around you. I like to think I'm quite modest, but when you're having a month like I've had, which has been really positive, it's good to have the family and the support network around you, to remind you first of all where you've come from, and to keep your head down and keep working hard.

"You've always got to have the belief that you can make a start like we have. That stems from the manager and the coaching staff, but also from the players around you - we've got the belief that we can go and get promoted."

Dylan spoke about the impact of Brian Barry-Murphy, and the role he has played in the development of our homegrown talents.

"I think it's been easier for us younger players, because the Academy promotes that style of play - press really high, play out from the back and keep possession. So having a manager like that, who has come in and trusted the players, but has brought in a style of play like that, it's all you could want, really.

"Even when things are going well, he's so demanding in training. The level of training is really good, but when it drops, you'll know - he'll tell you. Personally and as a team, he's really good like that. When you've got a manager like that when you're winning, it makes it a lot easier to go and produce performances and keep winning.

"You don't really see it at other clubs, so to have eight or nine Academy graduates, it's been incredible. It's easy to then look out on the pitch; I'm playing on the right side and next to me I've got Ronan [Kpakio], I've got Joel [Colwill] in midfield and Cian [Ashford] on the right wing - I've done that so many times, so it gives you confidence in the game."

Dylan Lawor said: "It's one good month - promotions aren't won by one good month. It's about putting those months together, the performances, game by game.

"Stockport is obviously a massive game for us, because they were up there last year. We know that's going to be a tough test.

"The one-on-one battles you're up against, they are physical boys who know how to use their body, so it's about gaining that experience and knowing how to combat that. You have to mature very quickly, and I feel like I've done that with my performances."

Beginning by discussing the last two away performances at AFC Wimbledon and Luton Town, Brian added: "I thought we played well in both games. On another day at Wimbledon we could've conceded and lost the game and it was the same at Luton. Nathan made several spectacular saves.

BBM:

"But also, we did play really well in both games. I suppose we're looking to improve as the season progresses with our performances to give us the very best chance to win.

"We're really clear there is a lot more work to do. For us, since the game against Plymouth, we had a chance to look at all of the games really closely and look at what went well and what you can do better, and there are a lot of things we can improve.

"A lot of the matches have been in the balance. You look at the game against Port Vale and we could have lost. The game against Wimbledon was in the balance; a 50/50 game. And Luton was very similar.

"But we have been reliant on some spectacular goals to put us on our way. We need to improve a lot of our attacking play to give us more of the movements that we can rely on.

"We can't always rely on Ryan Wintle scoring from 40-yards. That's a great finish and one that we're very happy to celebrate but you score them around three times out of 100. You can't over rely on those moving forward. We have to get much better at our attacking actions to give ourselves substance to the way we want to play."

BBM: “ Why I never let Nyakuhwa go out on loan”

"I think it's more beneficial for him and us to have him in our environment for a period," he said of the decision to not allow Nyakuhwa to leave on loan.

"We have a lot of games coming up in a short space of time and based on what he's done over the whole course of the summer, he'll get a lot of opportunity to play."

“The offers were from lower league clubs, he’s better staying with us and will get his chance with all the games we have coming up and against higher opposition.”
