Team for Stockport?

Tue Sep 09, 2025 9:14 pm

Was waiting until after the Wales games to post this in case Lawlor, Joel or Kpakio got injured. Thankfully they didn't.

What would be your team for Saturday?

I think Kellyman will be on the bench for the first couple of games while he gets used to the squad and way of playing.

Osho knows the way of playing because he was with BBM at Rochdale. I think he'll come in for Fish.

Turnbull is back, Robertson might be. Won't surprise me if Turnbull starts.

So I'll say:

Trott
Kpakio Lawlor Osho Bagan
Wintle Rubin Turnbull
Ashford Salech Willock

Fish does not warrant been dropped regardless of osho.

We know the team is selected based on training. I just have a feeling Osho will come in for Fish.

If anyone lawlor perhaps as he played nearly 90 mins for wales but its a shame either have to be dropped but happy also to see osho,
plus osho will have trained more with fish as lawlor has been away with wales.

That's a good point actually, might be Fish and Osho.

I think lawlor will be rested before Fish. Firstly he’s has played a lot of football and is still in his teens. We don’t need to thrash him. Plus he’s been away therefore not training so Osho is more likely to have had time to work with Fish and chambers in the shorter term.

If turnbull is fit I wouldn’t be surprised to see him come in for Joel as he’s been away too. I don’t expect Kellyman to start yet if as has been said elsewhere, he’s not match fit yet .

Why tinker with a centre back pairing who have not conceded a goal from open play this season? I haven't seen Osho play and I think he will probably turn out a better centre back than Fish, but you can't drop Fish currently. He's been playing well and has been part of our successful defence so far.

However, I think Kpakio should be rested after tonight. This game is going to be a battle and a big physical test, so I would start with the more experienced Chambers at right back. Kpakio can come back in for our next home game.

I would bring Joel Colwill into the team for this game. Stockport are going to play with an aggressive, high pressing intensity, so I think Joel's energy is needed. If Joel runs his guts out for 70 minutes and we look on top, Turnbull and possibly Robertson can come on for added quality.

Trott

Bagan
Lawlor
Fish
Chambers

Wintle
Joel
Rubin

Willock
Salech
Ashford

Same team vs Plymouth, maybe Ashford out for Davies.

Robertson probably to return to the bench

Ashford out for Davies or Kellyman is a deffo for me.
Osho is a more difficult one as any combination of the 3 could be picked and there’d be a case for each.

It's an interesting one, but I think a few changes from that team, I think Kapacio may get a rest depending on how he is, he had a tough game yesterday physically and mentally. I think BBM may protect him.

I don't think Turnball will be back, and will Kellyman get a start? Is it too early?

The strenth in depth looks good at the moment. When will Roberston be back?

Turnbull is definitely back. BBM said he'd be back after the international break.

Robertson not far off too, could be available.

Which ever way it goes it'll be one hell of a bench for league 1.

Really tough second guessing BBM.If he's fit I think he (Osho) will start. I think combinations w.ill be one of our strengths this season

I don't think he'll be rotating at centre back he'll pick what he believes to be his best pairing my guess Lawlor and Osho

Sorry, I was referring to the first team line-up

Very interesting though, a great team performance before the break, where everyone played well, and now Robertson, Turnbull, Kellyman, and Osho are trying to break into the first team!

I think bbm will stick with the same line up that has served us well in the last few games

Can you imagine the uproar from certain sections if he changes the back 4 and we lose, the over reaction would be of epic proportions lol

Might that also happen if we don’t change though? ;)

I understand what you’re saying; they’ll be looking for a scapegoat. One mistake from a newcomer could draw the wrath of the Doomsday squad and risk hampering their integration into the first team

I don't see Kapakio playing. The kid needs a blow. A tough international game. He probably needs an arm around the shoulder, take the credit from his teammates for getting his cap and relax and get back into training ready for Bradford IMO
