BBC Sport understands the decision has been taken by the Forest hierarchy, including owner Evangelos Marinakis.

The position of the Portuguese coach had been uncertain for two weeks since publicly declaring his relationship with Marinakis had deteriorated.

Talks are under way over Nuno's replacement, with an appointment imminent.

Used to respect the Forest . Not now / bought their way to promotion a few years ago and evaded FFP rules with some dodgy dealing and changing ownership of their stadium. More importantly they have bought so many players over the last 3-4 years it’s utterly ridiculous.

Ange finished 17th in the Premier League last season with a better squad than Nuno had at Forest, who finished 7th - one point off the Champions League places.

I’m disappointed for Nuno, but not surprised. Marinakis is a bit of an odd one and has probably used Forest’s relatively mediocre start to the season to push the button, as well as Nuno’s odd ‘we don’t communicate’ remarks

I’m more surprised they’ve gone for another failed Spurs man in Ange Postecoglu!

It may well have been a deliberate act by Nuno, who is no stranger to us after his (now) infamous battle with Neil Warnock after we turned his then Wolves team over at their place in the Premier League and the return game’s antics when Warnock felt aggrieved when Nuno blanked him at the final whistle and when he eventually offered his hand, Warnock simply gestured (in his own inimitable manner and told him to ‘go forth!’

I remember their Wolves supporters were great before the game but very bitter and hostile after their defeat and you had to love Warnock’s humour on Match of the Day, when asked about the hostility towards him, he replied, ‘Yes, they love me here; always singing my name! One thing I have to correct them on though, is that I’ve never worked for a bank in my life!’

As he said in January they were never going to get high enough to win the league or qualify for Europe so he looked after his main players in the league games to make sure they were fit for Europe. As a Spurs supporter for as long as I’ve watch City I was delighted to win a trophy after all the finals we’d lost and as long as we weren’t relegated couldn’t give a monkeys about the league.

The fact he’d given up on the league by January says it all. By Christmas Spurs were 11th and 7 points behind Forest in 4th.

Ange has his good points but he’s tactically naive and he doesn’t manage the media well either.

Spurs will do much better with Thomas Frank, Forrest will do much worse with Angie, and Nuno will do a good job wherever he ends up.

Nottingham Forest have confirmed the arrival or four new members of new boss Ange Postecoglou's coaching team.

Former Crystal Palace midfielder Mile Jedinak - who captained Australia under Postecoglou as a player and worked with him as a coach at Tottenham - has been named assistant coach.

Nick Montgomery and Sergio Raimundo arrive as assistants, having worked under Postecoglou at Spurs and Central Coast Mariners.

Rob Burch was Postecoglou's goalkeeping coach at Spurs and will assume the same role at Forest.
