" A proud moment for Dylan Lawlor "

Thu Sep 04, 2025 3:53 pm

Dylan Lawlor made his Wales debut on Thursday when he started in the 1-0 win in Kazakhstan.

At just 19 years old, he had a brilliant game and at one point made a brilliant clearance to stop a certain goal.

A clean sheet on his debut is a huge plus too.

A proud moment for Dylan Lawlor.

Obviously we're a bit biased, but he was my MOTM.

For me MOTM looked the most composed player in defence and his passing into midfield especially in first half got us moving.

That was some performance. To travel all the way across Europe, make your debut on a 4G pitch and look like a seasoned pro, is seriously impressive.

Man of match performance...

New contract thankfully sorted before this game

What a player we have who will only get better

Lawlors stats were unreal today he was like a rolls Royce at the back, when did Wales last have a centre half who can pass through the lines like that, he's a centre back with the brain and passing ability of a center midfielder, he won't be at Cardiff long sadly

Didn't do what every other defender midfielder did and that was make silly passes to marked players ... all passes was easy and no panic compared to the rest of players.

Totally agree - A great debut for Lawlor

Would he be worth £5m now - Maybe more? - Just interested what others think

Pity the rest of the defence weren't so composed. Nico Williams was a liability defensively. It was heart in mouth time in that second half!
Still, a win is a win

If he keeps progressing as he has, he'll be worth an awful lot more than £5m in the near future.

Signing Lawlor on a longer contract was the most important signing of the summer. His potential is huge. Would not be surprised if we are tested in January with a bid. Its also why we have to go up this year. Lawlor will be sold if we are not back in the Championship.

Double that those in the know will spot him, still in his teens way ahead of his age they will be keen to get him to sign for a prem club we need to get promoted so we could try and keep him along with others and say you can come to the prem with cardiff we need investment if we get back to the championship.

I have to disagree about his passing, I think that's what made him stand out compared to the rest of the defence he was the only one that could get us on the front foot and only played the safe option when nothing was on.

The more I see of him the better he gets. Definitely a ball playing centre back and reads the game so well for his age.

Have to agree with Monty

If, given the choice, I would pick Lawlor over McGuiness

Sorry realised it sounded wrong after posted it.... should said passed the ball with ease and didn't make silly passes like the others ...yes his passes were direct or to player unmarked so no pressure on them when they recieved it.... did say was by far motm

He seemed to find Wilson every time, 98% accurately only 2 passes did not find his target, and his positioning was spot on too ,stopped what looked like a certain goal

He'll be sold at some point if he carries on his progress, whatever league we're in.

Obviously we'll be able to demand more money if we're in a higher league.

But, just like every club in the UK apart from the three or four biggest, we are a selling club and if someone puts up the right money then players will be sold.

That'll be the case forever, no matter who our owner is.

Yea I agree, Lawlor is destined to go all the way to the top I think and in years to come we can look back with pride that it was with us that his journey began

It also highlights what a massive balls up the board nearly made by almost fumbling his contract extension, thank god bbm stepped in when he did and sorted it

The one over riding condition if and when he's sold is a sell on clause at least 25,% of price man u and Real have put in a 50% clause for some reason

Or to be really clever do what crewe did put in a sell on clause everytime certain player was sold!
