" Wales just about get the job done "

FT: Kazakhstan 0-1 Wales

Wales get the job done but it was not easy.

The win is all that matters but very fortunate to not concede in that second half.

I thought Lawlor had a great game.

Wales continue their World Cup qualifying campaign on Thursday with a trip to face Kazakhstan in Astana.

Over 1,100 Wales fans have made the 3,000-mile plus trip to Kazakhstan today. That is some support :thumbright:

Kick off is at 3pm (UK time) and it is live on BBC One.

So far, Wales have seven points from four games and are second in the group.

Kazakhstan are fourth with three points from three games.

Wales won the return fixture 3-1.

The group winners will automatically qualify for the tournament, with the second placed side going into the play-offs.

Wales are already practically guaranteed a play-off place because of the Nations League.

There are three Cardiff City players in the squad - Dylan Lawlor, Ronan Kpakio and Joel Colwill.

This will be Wales' only qualifier in this international window, with a friendly against Canada to follow.

I dont think this is going to be an easy game. 2 years ago Kazakhstan beat both N.Ireland and Denmark at home.

Here is Kazakhstan home games (Including friendlies)

Artificial pitch doesn't help.

Bloody horrible place to go on a Thursday night

A reminder that this kicks off at 3pm UK time.

A strange kick off time for a weekday game but it's often the case for Kazakhstan home games, as they're four hours ahead of us.

Joe Rodon, Nathan Broadhead, Danny Ward and Jay DaSilva have withdrawn from the Wales squad for Thursday's World Cup qualifier against Kazakhstan in Astana.

Tom King, Rhys Norrington-Davies and Joel Colwill have been added to the group originally named by head coach Craig Bellamy.

Leeds United defender Rodon, Wrexham duo Broadhead and Ward and Coventry City's DaSilva all have injury issues.

Cardiff City midfielder Colwill gets his first senior call-up after older brother Rubin was initially summoned by Bellamy only to be ruled out by a knock he picked up in the Bluebirds' win over Plymouth Argyle last weekend.

2 nil to Wales

I Watched the Celtic game last week over there and the pitch was horrendous.

The ball was bobbling and bouncing all over the place even with short passes which lead to an awful game of football and both teams resorting to long balls.

Not sure if it's the same stadium but I don't expect this to be pretty to watch. Snap your hand off for a scrappy 1-0 horrible place to go and play football.

Think Joel offers more than sheehan in the middle and how Cullen is ahead of rubin in the pecking order is crazy imo

To be fair, Cullen has been pretty good for Wales since Bellamy came in so I don't disagree with that.

Joel was unlikely to start because he was a replacement call-up.

Yea I understand why Bellamy has been playing Cullen but I feel rubin is head and shoulders above him now in every department

And yea fair enough about Joel but I just think he offers more than sheehan

Would not surprise me if that means a few extra quid in his salary More than likely has a full international clause in his new contract

As Borat would say:

**“Wawaweewa! Today I go to great football game in glorious nation of Kazakhstan. Our brave team play men from Wales — very strong, very hairy like mountain goat. Ball go left, ball go right, sometimes in net, sometimes in face. Crowd go crazy, make noise like goat stuck in fence.

Most excitement is not even football — is when my sister, number four best looking prostitute in all of Kazakhstan, come as mascot! She wave flag, smile big smile. Welsh men look at her, forget to chase ball. Referee blow whistle but still they stare.

Match end with many cheers, some tears, and one man in stands lose shoe. But best part: whole world see Kazakhstan hospitality — we give Wales goat milk, horse sausage, and sister mascot! Very nice!”**

I have always been of the opinion R.Colwill would be a fantastic player, and his ability on the ball is clear to see. However, in the last few seasons, he has not shown any consistency to give any national manager confidence.

Cullen, although perhaps not as good as we all know Colwill is, is more consistent and has shown that.

The games this season Colwill has been great, his energy and commitment to a pressing system that is working. If he keeps it up he’ll get in the team, but it’s worth noting he’s against weaker players now too

I don't know if you wrote that yourself or if you copied & pasted from somewhere else but it is quite amusing.

They were lining up to tap that in. Exactly what would have happened to us last season with the keeper pushing it out straight into the path of KM.

Lawlor has been outstanding so far.

HT: Kazakhstan 0-1 Wales

Relatively comfortable for Wales so far, controlling possession and looking for the second.

Kazakhstan look dangerous on the counter though and we need that second to kill off the game.

How much would you put on Lawlor now. Is he worth £5m?
