“ Will be Very Very interesting “

So We are not just selling out away at Wimbledon, Stockport and Luton, The Demand the Ticket Office are saying is beyond we could sell these grounds out 3 times over.

Is this due to many New Grounds ( Luton still not everyone has done it) ?

Or doing so well?

Or Both?

Will We Sell out Away at Bradford, Bolton, Huddersfield, Barnsley, Wigan, Blackpool ??

Personally We should Sell out at these grounds as well to Support City and don’t forget incredible start to the Season.

Or are fans mainly going to grounds as they are New?

THIS SEASON / SKY TV / NIGHT GAMES AWAY / SUDDENLY NO EXCUSES.

Last season we only took:

460 to Hull

1,030 to Luton

590 to Blackburn

357 to Preston

803 to Stoke

Just over 1,000 to a vital game at Sheffield United

579 to Sunderland 579

470 to Boro

635 to Sheffield Wednesday

We have always been decent going away Annis but I think it’s more to do with doing well. We are getting momentum again.

Neil,

We use to be big time.

Last 4 years the away support had gone down rapidly.

We should sell out then every away game, Not just New Grounds.

The Buzz is back Massively :bluebird:

Some of it is definitely that it's stadiums that fans haven't been to for a while or at all.

But I do think some of it is also people enjoying watching the way we're playing and finally seeing a team that represents them.

just looking at some stats on Birmingham City

Average Home attendance = 21,180 in the 2023/24 season ( championship )
Average Home Attendance = 26,717 last season in League 1

over 5,000 home average when going down a league

A bit sketchy finding Brums away following but what i Can find

Average away attendance - just over 2,000 in the 2023/24 season ( Championship )
Average away attendance - 1848 last season in league1

so a slight drop off last season for them . I guess because of the lower allocations

Are these figures right for Birmingham away attendances ?

it's fair to say when a medium size club is doing well and top of the tree home attendances usually increase across the board whatever division

I think the distance of travel makes a difference to some fans. Over 4 hrs and the numbers drop. Watching winning football with a good style of football helps too. I do think fans were bored of the championship grounds and let's face it the entertainment on show was poor.

Agree with the point you're making.

But part of the reason Birmingham's home attendances went up so much last season is because the season before, the lower tier of at least one of the stands was still being renovated for the first few months of the season so they had a reduced capacity anyway.

We as home fans where down by 800 for plymouth in comparrison to the 1st home game so still not getting better at home.
Our first away was 2,300 at port vale it will be interesting if we can improve on that at the next big ground wigan with an away allocation of 4,800 leeds would double that we sadly will not reach 3,000 away at wigan.

Mozzer,

Good post, But Brum had NEW Owners, Big Spending, ran away with the league and as Ned said Capacity increased again

As to Away.

They virtually Sold out where ever they went away and due to small away Capacities were not allowed more.

Looking at there previous season in 2022/23 I see a big drop off in Home Attendance around 16,000 average . I went to both Brum games in both 2022/23 and 2023/24 games and I was sitting in home ends for both games and there was plenty of space even with there reduced capacity .

I think the 2022/23 average attendances was down to around 16,000 as we were coming out of covid mind

With every game on sky+ wouldn't expect sellout at midweek games
Unless small capacity under 2k..
But as season goes on and momentum is kept so midweek attendances will rise at bigger venues.... A midweek 50mile trip is not same as a 120mile+ trip as I know.

Watching at home will definitely have taken a lot off the crowd, and will do the rest of this season, especially mid-winter when it's raining and snowing. But success will still keep a large following, especially if we keep it up.
